On Madam Secretary, Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) is the shrewd and determined Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy. She battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home. The cast also includes Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Wallis Currie-Wood, Tim Daly, Kathrine Herzer, Željko Ivanek, Patina Miller, Bebe Neuwirth, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. The show has a great balance of family life and government workings. It has high morals, and is entertaining and thought provoking. It is likely to be more accurate with its dealings in the government than most people realize. When I watched the first show I kept thinking, “Oh, I know how this is going to turn out.” However, iit does not allow you to succeed with simplistic predictions. I watched all of season 1. Towards the end it was like swallowing a bitter pill. Very predictable, no real drama or creativity. Whether it’s cancelled or not, I’m done with the show for good.
