In 2014, The CW revived the Masters of Illusion TV show and scheduled it on Friday nights. Even though the ratings keep falling, it hasn’t been cancelled yet. It’s now in its fifth season on the network and eighth season overall. How long can the series keep the magic going? Will Masters of Illusion be cancelled or renewed for season eight? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A CW stage magic show, Masters of Illusion debuted on Pax TV in 2000 and ran for two seasons before moving to MyNetworkTV for a third year. Dean Cain hosts the series, which features magicians performing escapes, large-scale illusions, and sleight-of-hand tricks in front of a live audience.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
10/6 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

For comparisons: The seventh season of Masters of Illusion averaged a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.021 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Masters of Illusion TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a ninth season on The CW?
*10/9/18 update: The CW has renewed the Masters of Illusion TV show for a ninth season. Details here.
Ok , so I can’t understand why this show is still on. As a fellow magician, i continue to step my game up every year as far as my shows are concerned. This show is 90% of card magic, 5% of non magic performers, and if we are lucky, something they are different, IE, illusions, or at least parlor .
I guess we’re no longer getting unrounded ratings because they’re not cool enough anymore. Because apparently, everyone prefers heavily rounded, inaccurate ratings.
