TV show description:
This comedy series follows a single mother named Christy (Anna Faris) who is newly sober and decides to restart her life in the Napa Valley in California. Her sobriety is tested by her mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), who introduced alcohol and drugs to Christy at an early age and is also in recovery.
Bonnie’s working on repairing their mother-daughter relationship and is all too happy to offer insights into Christy’s mistakes.
Christy’s children are Violet (Sadie Calvano) a sarcastic 16-year-old, and Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal), an innocent and honest pre-teen. Violet has a sexually-active relationship with a long-haired clueless dude named Luke (Spencer Daniels) and Christy is worried that her daughter will repeat her mistake of dropping out and becoming a teen mother.
To make matters worse, Roscoe’s father, Baxter (Matt Jones), is back in the picture — at least for as long as the red van he lives in isn’t towed away.
Christy gets a job as a waitress at a posh restaurant that’s managed by Gabriel (Nick Corddry). He’s very supportive of her and they share a sexual attraction — unfortunately, he has a snotty wife named Claudia. Rudy (French Stewart) is the establishment’s thoughtless and temperamental head chef.
Christy tries to remain as positive as she can while pursuing her new path in life. Unfortunately, it’s an uphill battle thanks to a very dysfunctional support system.
Episode #170 — My Kinda People and the Big To-Do
Bonnie gains a new outlook on her sobriety after dealing with difficult news. Also, Jill and Andy take a big step in their relationship.
First aired: May 6, 2021.
What do you think? Do you like the Mom TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a ninth season?
I want to know if the guy who plays moms boyfriend is in a wheelchair in real life?
I can’t wait for SEASON 6! while waiting for season 6, I am going to watch previous season all again
Mom is the best show ever. I think Anna Faris is the best actress on TV and the heart of the show. She can be cute and she can be beautiful. She plays a daughter, an ex-wife, a mother, a recovering alcoholic, and friend to everyone. As a girlfriend there was great chemistry with her ex Baxter, the fireman, the student, and Fred the car dealer. Not much chemistry with Patrick. Loved it when she spent the night with Baxter in his van and then tried to sneak in the house. Loved the show where she went wedding dress shopping… Read more »
Why was my last post deleted? Huh? I merely said I was not a fan of this show at this point (season five). It started out well but now, in season five, is beginning to fade and follow in the footsteps of Two and a half Men. Too single minded with the double entendre jokes and outright sexual jokes and situations. And what happened to the young son and daughter of Christy? They have vanished. As has Baxter, her ex-husband. Jamie Pressley was good too but doesn’t look like she’s making a return. They really added to the show and… Read more »
Loved, past tense, this show. Too many changes that do not make any sense. Children disappear? And all the rest!
Please don’t cancel love this show, Don’t make another mistake like you have done in the past!
I love this show I look for it every week I even watch the re-runs on the 4 different channels that show it, I am kinda confused Because there is no violet or roscoe in this new season yet what’s going on?? I love the show but no explanation Even on the open credits there not in the photo anymore? just weird, But anyway I still love the show Its just the unexplained gets to me.
I didn’t even know about this series until I began watching it in reruns. I found it funny and refreshingly different at first, but as time went on it became raunchier. Kind of like Two and a Half Men (same behind the scenes team on Mom); Two and a Half Men ended up totally raunchy and for me, unwatchable. Mom seems to be heading down the same road. The current season is number five and I am finding it far less amusing than say the reruns of seasons 1-3. Also, many characters who were really good seem to have disappeared… Read more »
