Another season of Murdoch Mysteries is coming, and this one will have an important milestone for the series during its airing. The season will return for season 13 in 2020, and the exact has now been revealed. The series will return with brand new episodes on February 1. The series will air back to back episodes on Saturday nights. The season has a total of 18 brand new episodes, which will air over a span of nine weeks.
Ovation revealed more about the return of the series in a press release. Check that out below.
“Ovation, America’s only arts network, has announced the season 13 premiere date for long-running fan favorite Murdoch Mysteries. The drama series is set in Toronto in the late 1890s and early 1900s during the age of invention, where Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), the methodical detective, and his impassioned wife Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy) enlist radical forensic techniques like fingerprinting and ultraviolet light to solve a range of gruesome murders. Airing back to back episodes all season long, the 13th season premiere of Murdoch Mysteries will air on Ovation starting Saturday, February 1 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT.
Season 13 of the internationally acclaimed series continues to explore the personal and professional developments in the lives of Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy), Inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), Constables George Crabtree (Jonny Harris) and Henry Higgins-Newsome (Lachlan Murdoch), and Detective Llewelyn Watts (Daniel Maslany) as they tackle Toronto’s toughest mysteries, from the serious and historic to the comical and unusual. This season also features the 200th episode of the series, which will air on Saturday, March 7th at 7pm ET / 4pm PT.
Murdoch continues his deft detective work and bolsters his investigations with new innovations including a “searchizer” device that measures facial features and matches them with existing police files. Unfortunately, he is still rattled by suspicions about Violet Hart’s (Shanice Banton) appointment to coroner and doesn’t completely trust her abilities or motives. The station also sees a new addition with Special Constable Robert Parker (Marc Senior), an African American former Pinkerton who went from suspect in a union murder to helping solve the case.
Murdoch Mysteries is based on Maureen Jennings’s popular Detective Murdoch series of novels and premiered in Canada in January 2008. Murdoch Mysteries is executive produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Yannick Bisson, Hélène Joy, and Peter Mitchell, who also serves as showrunner, and produced by Stephen Montgomery and Julie Lacey. Murdoch Mysteries is developed and produced by Shaftesbury, in association with CBC, ITV STUDIOS Global Entertainment and UKTV, and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the IPF’s COGECO Television Production Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, and Ontario Creates. Shaftesbury Sales Company and ITV STUDIOS Global Entertainment hold worldwide distribution rights for the series.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Murdoch Mysteries? Will you watch the new season?
I LOVE Murdoch Mysteries. Found it during the virus shut in time. Keep it coming!
Long time fan of MM but note of late it seems there is more and more and more of Dr. Julia and less of Detective Murdoch. I am left wondering WHY as just a little of Dr. Julia’s character goes a looong way!!
Love it can’t wait for the new season
I love Murdoch mysteries and watching the old one’s while waiting for season 14. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL MURDOCH MYSTERIES.
We are a older couple, who just discovered MMs, we were so enthralled we purchased all 12 seasons at one time. This was early last year, and since then we have watched the entire 12 seasons 7 times. My husband’s grandmother was born in 1880 – she lived until 1984 – he was privileged to hear her stories (and she still wore bloomers all those years later). The authenticity of MMs is a huge part of the attraction – but for us it is the interpersonal relationships that we adore. We JUST TODAY (03 July ’20) received season 13 –… Read more »
I love the Murdoch Mysteries. I enjoy the whole cast. But I find the sound could be a little louder, so I can adjust it on my end There are several others that are my favorites, Midsomer Mysteries is terrific, Mary Higgins Clark, great murder mysteries. But their is a big problem with these movies. The background music needs to be shut off or lowered down. Just when the actors are talking, that darn music is so loud you can’t hear them. By the end of the movie, you have a headache. Can’t something be done about that? Is there… Read more »
It’s not the program fault but your tv. Go to your Settings and turn OFF the surround sound.
Definitely will watch Murdock Mysteries. Love it and look forward to more seasons of great Murdock Mysteries.
Murdock Mysteries is a long time favorite of mine. Will a Season 14 be aired in the near future?
Will watch as many more seasons as can be produced, It is the best show on television.
I enjoy Murdoch Mysteries, including reruns on Ovation, because the writers provide a nice mix of crime solving and interesting characters and the “scientific” innovations. I recall Wild Wild West used to have science that was ahead of its time by Artemus Gordon.
Love the show
Is there going to be a season 14? I love this show.
I recently discovered the series and love it! I’ve become quite addicted to it! The show has good chemistry between the cast.
When will the Murdoch’s adopt a baby or babies? So Julia finding more gadgets in their house to amuse William. Have more family domestic comedy issues. Ruth and Henry are a hilarious couple. Crabtree finally got a good woman to keep. Inspector daughter moves in his house. You know fun stuff like that.
I have watched this show since it was on PBS. It’s my go to show. Keep up the good work!
Why on earth would you cancel Murdoch??
