NCIS will return to CBS tonight with the second half of its 13th season, and there are reports that one of the members of the main cast will leave at the end of this season.
In an interview with Vulture Hound Magazine, David McCallum spoke about the series and his character, but he also revealed that it is known to the members of the cast that one member of the cast is ready to leave the series at the end of this season. McCallum also revealed that fans might only see him on the series for one more season.
He said:
“We’re going to finish shooting this season at the end of April, and DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, we’ve told people a long time ago, is leaving at the end of the season. So the writers have to decide what to do when one of the four members of the original cast leaves. When Michael leaves, there’ll just be three of us. I will go on doing Ducky for at least another year I believe, provided my health holds up. Things aren’t quite as easy at eighty two as they were at twenty eight! So I will go on as long as I can.”
NCIS is still the top series on network television. For season 13, the series has an average of 16.783 million viewers per episode. The series has successfully launched two spin-offs, and tonight’s return is a crossover with NCIS: New Orleans titled “Sister City.”
It is clear that NCIS is still a big hit for CBS, but does the fact that two main members of the cast are leaving the series this season and next mean that it is time for NCIS to come to an end? Could members of the cast move to one of the other NCIS series like CSI has done with Ted Danson and CSI: Cyber?
Check out a sneak peek from tonight’s crossover episode below. How long do you want NCIS to stay on the air? Tell us what you think.
I really like NCIS, myself no I’m not ready to see it go off the air right now, no time at all. But, I do know that people get tired. Why, did Ziva, have to die at all. Now let’s think back ok when it was announced that Ziva, were the one who die in the fire at her father’s summer home. Well it was one of fathers houses, now how do we (the people) and you’ll actually knows that she is dead. Gibbs, should have felt it in gult that something was wrong, like Ziva isn’t dead. Gibbs, knows… Read more »
Time to throw in the towel. Since Michael left, and now Abby the show is no longer my have to watch.
I love NCIS but when Ziva left something went out of it. When Abby leaves I will no longer wartch.
When Ziva decided to leave, it left a big hole in the show. The sexual tension between Ziva and Tony was gone and also the back and forth between the two was also gone causing an important aspect of the show to be missing. Bishop is a lightweight and could never replace a character like Ziva. The day that Tony left was the death knell of the show for me. I watched the first two shows of the next season without Tony and haven’t watched another one since.
I enjoy watching NCIS and have since JAG began. People need to move on with their lives that is understood. It is difficult for those of us that are faithful watchers of the show but ….. You get tired of doing the same ole same ole for years and years and you at times may feel the need to move up and on with your life. No matter how it changes as long as Mark Harmon is on the show I will continue watching. He MAKES the show. He is the ‘leader’ as it were, of the group and no… Read more »
NCIS is a one of a kind series that ,if you kind find similar cast members , to play the roles of the ones leaving ,you may very well have a winner on your hands. Sometimes change is good. They all ,currently have their own specific individual roles and traits that, if handled properly ,could prove to be a winner.
Unless you can find someone amazing to lead the show you should let it go before it falls off. It was great with Tony and Ziva and Gibbs ( he’s getting a bit old). Can you have Mash without Hawkeye? Probably not. Better to make a spin off, borrow some cast members and do something new.
Please keep NCIS on. It’s one of the few shows I really enjoy. “Jimmy” is set up to take over for “Ducky” when the time comes and the other team members are great. The only thing I dislike about the show is that the new females were brought in because of their skills and then those skills were removed. Bishop was brought in because of the way her mind worked to solve problems…junk food, sitting on the floor or desk and papers spread out. Not any more. She’s just like all the rest. The way she solved problems was what… Read more »
Yes, it’s time for NCIS to move on. When Michael WeatherlySteele character left, and ziba character left, my wife and I became diinterested, even though we love Mark Harmon. The new actors/characters just don’t set the same humor, and spontaneously, and miss the back of the head slap from Jethro.
I enjoyed ncis, I am hopping that there is more. all the old people are gone, that is ok, I just hope that Netflix picks up the rest of ncis.
I love NCIS and I understand everyone’s enthusiasm. I also understand that the actors want to do new things and have new challenges. I miss Tony and Ziva and Kate. I also like the new people and I believe everyone will get to know them. I don’t want to see the show canceled, I love it too much. Keep it going please and keep the writing top notch like it is now!!
Jennifer Esposito ads nothing to the show ! Give her the boot. Give Emily her main part back and dump, Quinn.
I agree. I really want NCIS to continue. NCIS New Orleans is stupid. In my opinion, poor acting.
Neither does the other two characters. They are not strong enough to be NCIS agents and they are boring!
The series of ncis is an awesome series…. Ilove it i try and keep up with it they should make new it saddens me that gary glasgo passed away last month… To keep his memory alive they should keep making the series.
