It’s time for San Antonio Memorial’s emergency room night shift staff to clock out. The Night Shift TV show has been cancelled after four seasons on NBC. The medical drama first premiered in of May of 2014. It ran as a summer series, except in season two, when it was a mid-season replacement.
Airing on the NBC television network, The Night Shift stars Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon, with Mark Consuelos recurring in season four. The series centers on the quirky, yet extraordinary emergency room night shift at San Antonio Memorial, who’ll risk almost anything to save their patients.
The Night Shift: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of The Night Shift averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.96 million viewers. Compared to season three, it was down by 32% and down by 21%, respectively. The Night Shift did not stack up well against other NBC TV shows. Even among the Peacock Network’s summer series, it earned pretty low ratings, so the cancellation makes sense.

I hope Netflix picks this up for a season 5 (and more)…this is a great show. With the medical/military twist and the outstanding characters it has a lot to offer its viewers. I was hooked immediately and I stumbled across the show. If there were more previews or other means of advertising about the show we might be seeing a season 5. I will hope for the best and hopefully see those words “NEW EPISODES” appear on its icon.
Really enjoyed this series. Discovered it on FB and upset there is not a season 5 especially with how season 4 ended with TC planning on going to Syria and then showing up at the hospital when Jordan thought he was leaving.
Recently found the night shift on Facebook and wish they would make more seasons. Love the show and characters!
I didn’t know this show existed, I discovered it on Netflix recently and have been totally hooked since. Im very sad to discover that it has been cancelled! I need more of this show! I’ve never seen this combination of doctors and soldiers. I absolutely love it! I think ratings would go through the roof if a surprise season we’re to air! Although I think it should have more advertisement to let people know it’s out there, because like I said I discovered it on Netflix after it had already been cancelled, and introduced it to several friends who love… Read more »

I’m so tired of these networks canceling the good tv shows!!! This show was great! I have been waiting for it to come back on and now I find out it’s canceled. I’m heartbroken.

I just happened to find The Night Shift on Netflix and I couldn’t stop watching. I watched all the episodes and seasons but I need more! I need to know what happened to Annie, I need to know if Kenny’s marriage works out, I need to know if Paul finds everything he’s been looking for, I need to know if TC and Jordan get back together. Please, please, please consider bringing back this show!!!
What I think is that NBC and other networking companies should get their ratings from many sources and not just what they can get from cable TV. Most people don’t have money to pay these outrageous cable bills. Instead we would rather pay $10 Netflix monthly bill and binge watch any shows we want. With that being said I think NBC and ABC and CBS and whatever else there is out there needs to get ratings from Netflix and Hulu and all these other resources that people use to watch great show such as the night shift on. I really LOVED this show. I have been waiting for netflix to update season 5 and find out that it is cancelled. Please reconsider renewing for season 5 because some folks don’t have enough money to pay for this outrageous cable bill just the watch TV. Most of us can afford a $10 a month Netflix opposed to an $89 Comcast bill. This by far was one of my favorite shows next to Walking Dead. Please bring it back.
This was a fantastic show, much better than any of the other hospital series on air. Watched it on Netflix. They really should bring it back. I never saw it when it aired, mainly because I wasn’t aware of it and the title was misleading to me… thought it was a spin-off from the very old movie entitled the same.
