What’s This TV Show About?
A Vampire Diaries spin-off, airing on The CW television network, The Originals stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel. Claire Holt and Leah Pipes guest star. The CW supernatural drama series follows the Mikaelson family, the world’s first vampires who have returned to reclaim New Orleans. In season four, the Mikaelsons reunite, only to face an even bigger threat: the revival of an ancient evil with strong ties to their most vulnerable family member. After a devastating attack by this nightmarish entity, they must stand their ground and forge an alliance with those who hate them most: Marcel (Davis) and Vincent (Gatewood).
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of The Originals averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 940,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 15% and up by 1%, respectively. Learn how The Originals stacks up against the other CW TV shows.
On May 10, 2017, The Originals was renewed for a fifth season which will debut April 18, 2018. On July 20th, it was announced the series would end with season five. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Since The Vampire Diaries ended, Reign is ending, and it seems likely freshman dramas Frequency and No Tomorrow will not return, I suspect The CW will renew The Originals for season five. Much like this season though, I don’t expect they’ll issue a full 22 episode order. Subscribe to be notified of any cancellation or renewal news.

Janet Brown. I love the originals , it is the best CW show on for adults , you have to give it time to get a better following because it’s in its infancy , so please don’t cancel the show please please please leave it alone have a season five. It would also be great for seasons 6 7 8 9 10.

To be honest I wish there were several seasons of TVD too. However TO is much in its infancy and we need at least 8 more seasons of it at 22 episodes each. If you want me to later buy the full box set of dvd’s then it would be in CW’s interest to prolong the show. Also CW need to keep releasing these shows on Netflix so that viewers worldwide can appreciate the shows. The actors are superb and the stories are well written. Please don’t cancel the Originals! It is the best scripted series on television, and Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gilles, Phoebe Tonkin, Claire Holt and Charles Michael Davis are all FANTASTIC actors. It is the only real adult show on thoe CW, and i know it would get way better ratings if people outside of the CW viewer-ship knew about it. It would be extremely unfair for the CW to cancel it. The fan base for the show is strong and loyal. Additionally, i will cry!!!!
