Starz was very happy with the early reception of their new Outlander TV show so they gave it an early season two renewal. The cable channel has often given quick renewals but the series are then often cancelled after two seasons. Will Starz regret giving Outlander a second year order so soon? Would it have been cancelled if they had waited?
The Outlander series revolves around Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married combat nurse from 1945. She finds herself mysteriously thrown back in time, to 1743 Scotland, and forced to marry another man to save her life. A passionate affair is ignited. The rest of the cast includes Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish, Gary Lewis, Annette Badland, Stephen Walters, Laura Donnelly, Lotte Verbeek, James Fleet, Duncan Lacroix, Roderick Gilkison, Simon Callow, Grant O’Rourke, Bill Paterson, and Simon Meacock.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
1/29 update: Have you heard that season two has been cancelled? Well, it hasn’t.
Final season averages: 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.04 million total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like the Outlander TV show? Do you think it should have been renewed for a second season or cancelled instead?

Yes Yes .Starz love this series , I,m so glad you have already renewed it . I,m in the process of ready the books .This is a wonderfully written story. Also , Starz you could not have done a better job of the casting!!!!! Keep this series going Please!!! Thank you
OUTLANDER is the best show on television. I am a STARZ Subscriber and encourage anyone that does not have STARZ to signup, the OUTLANDER series is worth the price if you watch nothing else.
Not everything is the same as the books – but that is OK. The entire cast is outstanding. The beauty of Scotland and superior acting transforms this into a true epic.
I also subscribed to Starz just for the Outlander Series. It is a wonderful adaptation. Will watch as long as it is on. I have turned on 15 others to it. We would leave Starz if this series is cancelled. We are long time fans of Diana Gabaldon’s genre bending fiction. Love what Ron D. Moore has created.
If Starz cancels Outlander, I cancel Starz. Outlander is the only reason I got Starz to begin with.
I LOVE Outlander- both the books and the show. I subscribed to STARZ just to see the show.
Love, love, and doubly love this show. Haven’t seen a show I’ve liked more than this one on the air so far!!!! I look forward to every Saturday night for the show to come one. Keep um coming….
I have loved the books forever, and now I love the TV series. They are doing such an amazing adaptation — beautiful scenery, beautiful costumes, beautiful actors, beautiful story. I am so glad they will give it at least one more season and hope that it goes on and one — at least through the fourth book. The characters are fantastic and so are the adventures they have.
BEST SHOW EVER ON TV RIGHT NOW! I have been a fan of the books since they came out in 1991. So much more story to tell. I hope it goes all 9 seasons!!!!
Love the books and the series I hope they keep renewing it. Great fan base
I LOVE this adaptation of my favourite book series. Everything g about Outlander is amazing! The actors, the behind the scenes connection, the history, the scenery, the music…. Outlander is a love story but it’s really a life story and one I hope to watch on tv for many seasons to come.
I’m so glad Outlander was given a second season. Love the books, love the show.
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW. There is so much more story to tell and it is all AWESOME. Diana Gabaldon’s stories evoke EVERY human emotion that is possible. This TV adaptation is BRILLIANT. EVERY book must be adapted to TV.
Absolutely LOVE it! Hope it continues.
Outlander is one of my favorite shows on the air right now….I also LOVED Magic City and it was cancelled the 3rd time around. Left the audience totally up in the air without any closure.. Certainly hope that this does not happen to Outlander. Why is it that a good many quality shows cannot find an audience and all the ****** shows do!! Guess that there is no accounting for taste
I LOVE Outlander!! I have read all the books (some three times some ten!) So far Stars is doing a great job, though I am unsure of the previews I saw for the next episode. I’m not to thrilled with giving any time at all to Frank and what’s going on in the time Claire left. I personally don’t care about Frank, only Jaimie!!
