Although the Outlander TV show dropped in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic in season two, the total audience actually grew by nearly five percent. Because premium cable networks rely on paid subscribers — rather than ad revenue — audience growth is more important than a show’s demo numbers. Starz was quick to respond to that growth and renewed Outlander through its fourth season, back in June of 2016. Can it build on its success? Will Outlander be cancelled or renewed for more seasons on Starz? Stay tuned.
A time travel drama, Outlander, stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall and Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser. The Starz cast also includes Tobias Menzies, Duncan Lacroix, Lotte Verbeek, Laura Donnelly, Steven Cree, Grant O’Rourke, Richard Rankin, and Sophie Skelton.
Outlander, season three, is based on the third novel in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series, Voyager. It picks up right after Claire (Balfe) leaves Jamie (Heughan) behind in the 18th century, and travels through the stones, back to her life in 1948. Now expecting Jamie’s baby, Claire must deal with her first husband, Frank (Menzies) and his reaction to her disappearance and return. Meanwhile, back in time, Jamie struggles with the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the Battle of Culloden, as well as the loss his soul mate. **Status update below.

What do you think? Do you like the Outlander TV show? Should this Starz TV series be cancelled or renewed beyond season four?
** 5/9/2018 status update: Starz has renewed Outlander for season five and season six. Season four will debut on a date TBD in November 2018. Details here.
Don’t have Showtime on foxtell. Have read books if show is true will be sensational. Acting in series 1 & 2 fantastic can’t see why 3 and 4 would be any different.
I have only subscribed to Amazon prime to watch outlander. It’s amazing I can’t get enough of it. Great actors, great story line and so well presented.
Plus it has one very hansom Scot that I need my daily fix of. I am only 32 and I love love love it.
I only watch Starz for Outlander. Keep it on
The main reason I have Starz is to watch Outlander. Most of my friends who also watch it are over the age of 60.
The only reason I subscribe to Starz is because of Outlaner. It will hopefully be renewed annually until the end of the books.
I have Starz because of Outlander. They have many fine shows but Outlander is the genre I love. Please keep the show running until the end.
The intrigue, history, joy, hope, sorrow, inspiring fully fleshed characters with a dash of sc-fi formed by DG’s intellectual brain brought Ron Moore, Maril Davis, Starz and Sony a game changer. Millions of Americans have abandoned vacuous, brain numbing “reality” tv slop. Outlander broke the dumbing down/quick cash trend. Thankfully. SMART entertainment is what tv needs. Ep 1 this season was compelling, beautifully filmed and acted. Bravo Sam, Caitriona, Tobias, Grant and new players! To abandon that opportunity would be counterproductive and lunacy. Ride it ’till the end of the story, if you’re SMART.
I absolutely love Outlander. I am out of the target demographic, but this show is the reason why I have Starz. Look at 5o-65, please!
Stay on it’s now getting good
I love Outlander and I find it to be the best show so have ever seen on Starz. The show is so well made I feel like I am watching a short movie with every episode. So beautifully filmed. The story is fantastic. The actors are incredible. This show is the reason that I have Starz.
Outlander should be renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 and beyond. Millions of fans that have read the books are so happy Ron Moore and the entire team are doing such a great job. The story of Claire and Jamie could have been a disaster. By the way, I only subscribe to Starz because of Outlander.
The only reason I haven’t dropped cable completely is because of Outlander. I’m in that target demographic, just barely. Everyone I watch it with is out of that age group. Keep that in mind while deciding if it’s going to be renewed.
I have Starz only for Outlander. Also you may want to look into demographics of viewers 0ther than 18-49. There are a vast majority of viewers who are older than 60. The 18-49 demographic may work for some shows but not for Outlander. Viewers have been reading the books for 25 years. You may be surprised if you look into other demographics.
I wait for Outlander and I am 72It is amazing!!! Have read all the books and then some
I’m 80 and have a 89 year old friend that watches it with me. She has read all the books. The only reason I have Starz is to watch outlander. I have read all the big books several times and all of the Lord John series. It keeps me from being lonely!
Only reason I pay monthly for Starz…keep Outlander going, there is so much more to tell!!
I only have Starz because of Outlander! Drop Outlander and I drop Starz. Please consider how many of us are out here in the same mindset. I’ve never contacted any show, channel, actor, etc. But I feel this is an important aspect of your consideration to continuing the show. We are usually very silent…not me, this time!
