What’s This TV Show About?
A magic competition series airing on The CW television network, the Penn & Teller: Fool Us TV show is hosted by Brooke Burke (replacing Alyson Hannigan) and is judged by comedic illusionists Penn Jillette and Teller. In each episode, aspiring magicians are invited to perform their best trick to try and fool the world-famous team. Anyone who succeeds wins the right to perform with Penn and Teller in their celebrated show at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The live studio audience and the TV audience watch along with Penn & Teller as they try to figure out the secrets. The master magicians see the trick only once and have to try to immediately figure out how it was done. The live studio audience knows there are no camera tricks, secret edits, or helpful camera cuts — just real magic. Magicians in season ten include Moxie Jillette, Daxien, The Cosmic Romantics & David Schwartz, Cash, Aleš Hrdlička, Henry & Klauss, Jonah Babins & Ben Train, Alexandra, Artem, Anthony Dempsey, Rune Carlsen, Solange Kardinaly, Christian Engblom, Antonio Martinez, and Ari Novick.
Season 10 Ratings
The 10th season of Penn & Teller: Fool Us averaged a 0.07 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 623,000 viewers. Compared to season nine, that’s down by 1% in the demo and down by 7% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Penn & Teller: Fool Us has been renewed for an 11th season, which will debut on January 24, 2025. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Will The CW cancel or renew Penn & Teller: Fool Us for season 11? The show has become a staple of the network’s weekend schedule and is likely inexpensive to produce. As long as the headliners want to continue and they don’t have a better show to put in the timeslot, I think it will be renewed. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. The change from Hannigan to Burke for Season 10 was a tough sell, when you change a longtime host of a show, you definitely risk declining viewership. However, by the end of the season I definitely warmed up to Burke, her warm personality on the show is very sweet and genuine. I really hope they don’t cancel this show and I hope they are tracking its ongoing viewership and popularity through their website where you can watch all episodes for free (except they are missing the first actual season I think). It’s a wonderful show and I will keep watching… Read more »
