School’s out forever. The Quad TV show had been cancelled after its second season on BET. The news that there will be no third season comes six days after the April 3rd season two finale, “#TheColorPurple,” which will now serve as The Quad TV series finale.
A BET college drama, The Quad stars Anika Noni Rose, Jake Allyn, Sean Blakemore, Aeja Lee, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Jazz Raycole, Zoe Renee, Peyton ‘Alex’ Smith, Michelle DeFraites, Kevin Savage, Tyshon Freeman, RonReaco Lee, Debbi Morgan, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Jasmine Guy. The story unfolds at Georgia A&M University, one of the nation’s most prestigious HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). As college president, Dr. Eva Fletcher (Rose) has to balance her personal life with her career and the needs of the institution and her students.
The Quad: A Look at the Ratings
The second season of The Quad averaged a 0.22 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 553,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 28% and 31%, respectively. For comparisons, check out the ratings of other scripted BET TV shows.
The cancellation comes after a string of executive shakeups at the Viacom-owned cabler. In December, Scott M. Mills was tapped to serve as the new president BET, with Debra Lee staying on as chairman and CEO. Prior to that, several top BET programming executives exited the company last March.

Sure hate to hear that this show was canceled. I kind of wondered with the way it ended.
I totally agree…big mistake to cancel this show. It was a highlight of my work week. I would come home from a stressful day and watch the Quad. I will miss this show! And no closure too! If you must cancel, please at least give us a proper goodbye and close the remaining storylines with a resolution.
Maybe Oprah can carry the show! QUAD…..it has a good storyline. Will they bring the storyline to closure????
I cried for the Dean when he lost his wife and gave Cedric all the props for standing up to being a father, looked for season 3 to see y’all cancelled whyyyy??? This show is powerful please reconsider!!!!!!

Sad that the cancellation of this insightful show about social justice, politics and human rights. Them white people ain’t trying to show the world what really is going on even though we already now. Really good show.. sorry it was renewed….
This show really spoke about relative topics, especially in the second season by intertwining what was going on in the Real world with their stories. The show was good.
I don’t think The Quad should end at season 2 it is getting too good and I’m waiting to see what happened next. I was hooked from the moment I first started watching it truly is a great show, gave me something to look forward to.
So upset just found the show and I loved it! I don’t watch BET because they haven’t had a show I’ve to watch since 1997. Now I finally find a show that I am watching and enjoying on BET and now you guys are cancelling it when I just caught up to the season so that I could watch it religiously on the TV. I’m so upset by this and I think that you all need to think about what you’re doing this is a good show and it’s still with powerful things that young black people need to see.
Damn……we already don’t have anything on tv to show the hbcu experience. We can do better BET!!!
