Rebel is one of the more surprising cancellations of this television season. ABC Signature President Jonnie Davis is the latest to speak out about the cancellation of the drama series after only four episodes into its season. It appears cancelling the Katey Sagal series was just as hard from the side of the studio.
Davis said the following about the decision made by ABC to cancel the series, per Deadline:
“We love Krista Vernoff, we made this incredible deal with her. There’s no better showrunner in town — and a creator by the way — and we were gut-punched about Rebel. We hoped that was going to get more time to fully find the audience, and if you’re reading the blogs right now, people love that show. We’re still licking our wounds on that one.”
Sagal and others have also spoken out publicly about the cancellation of Rebel. There is still hope the series could find a new home.

Should not be cancelled. We really like the show and the cast! Bring it back to TV. Less of the reality TV nonsense!!

I absolutely LOVED Rebel! Loved all of the cast… John Corbett & James Lesure LOVE THEM Tamala Reneé Jones ,Also !! Sam Palladio as GUNNAR from Nashville!!ANOTHER SHOW I LOVED AND LOST!!! Love love love Andy Garcia as Julian Cruz…Even veteran Mary McDonnell as reoccurring role remember her as the Captain Sharon Raydor in Major Crimes for years!! Along with veteran Alan Arkin & “Suits” Alum Scotty Abigail Spencer. The show was AWESOME! I hope it gets picked up by another network. This show NEEDS to find a new home. This is a smart show and needs to go on.

Can’t understand. A great show like Rebel canceled and The Connors and degrading show like the bachelor s renewed!! Please find a home like Amazon prime or Netflix (both i subscribe to)
ABC never even gave it a chance to catch on. Really not fair. Losing all respect for ABC programming.
Its astonishing that a show with so much promise, awesome performances and great writing was tossed out like trash. I don’t think for one minute that “it was just as hard” for the studio – obviously they could care less. I’ve had it with ABC and so should everyone. Write to the network and demand that at the least they sell it to a streaming service.
I agree as well with other Networks. Everything is going to streaming by November this year. Then the Networks will be kicking themselves when no one streams ABC CBS NBC! Soon I hope in the works writers having their own streaming platform.
I love Rebel, personally I feel its the best on ABC. I sure hope another station picks it up!
It is a decent show— so I expected them to cancel it. Now they can air more garbage reality tv that appeals to the lowest common denominator — IQ wise—of viewers.
All these big brother Bachelor all that so called reality trash.
Hopefully Rebel finds a new hope. You people that canceled the show made the worst decision ever….shame on you!

Sad news I thought the show was a great
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t like the show. I am one of the thousands if not millions of women who have spent a lot of time fighting hard for worthy causes. It is possible to do that without having affairs and falling down on the needs of your family. Shows like this advance the mythology that kick-ass women are crazy. Coping with misogyny is hard enough. We don’t need that.

Rebel was such a great show! Can’t believe it was cancelled. It wasn’t really given a chance. Katey Sagal and Andy Garcia was phenomenal in the show. Perfect casting!
I hope another network picks it up!
