Is Roseanne getting a spin-off or not? According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is currently in negotiations with stars of the cancelled TV show.
As reported earlier, ABC cancelled the sitcom revival after star/creator Roseanne Barr posted offensive statements on Twitter. The series has already been renewed for a second season with returning cast members Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman, Alicia Goranson, Emma Kenny, and Sarah Chalke.
Now, THR says ABC is nearing a deal for a Roseanne spin-off that centers on Sara Gilbert’s character, Darlene. Fellow co-stars Laurie Metcalf and John Goodman are “tentatively on board” to join the project. However, the decision ultimately rests on Barr.
In order for the spin-off to continue, the former star/creator has to waive her rights to a considerable fee. As of reporting, it’s unclear what Barr has agreed to or not.

I really doubt I will watch it since Roseanne will not be in it, she is what the show is about she has always spoke her mind in the past and nobody complained back then but now it seems to be a problem.
I think they just need to get over their selves at Disney. People in glass houses don’t throw stones and Disney ABC’s owner has a few skeletons in their closet as some of their artists have brought to everyone’s attention . Give Roseanne her show back and shut up about it. She is a comedian and they are supposed to say stuff that some people dont like. Definitely will not watch the show is Roseanne I could care less about the rest of them she made the show as far as Darlene I’m not a big fan of her anyhow I hope the spin-off tanks and nobody watches they’re ABC take that
So I guess the saying now is sticks and stones may break my bones, but make a racial comparison about me and you will loose your job.
I will watch it only because of all the characters will be in the show but it most likely won’t hold my attention. The show always centered around Roseanne and will never be the same without her. Doesn’t matter what she did or said, as this is only a show which has nothing to do with what happened.
I would watch if everyone returns – without Rosanne, I understand. But the other characters are fabulous. It would not be the same without Rosanne, but the other characters could hold the show. I love the show, and am sad it was cancelled – way too much ado about an unrelated remark. But I love Goodman, Metcalf, Gilbert – all the kids, especially the new boy. I’d watch – for sure.
Watched Roseanne back in the day. Watched the re-boot! I was on the fence regarding the spin-off, since I am a fan of Metcalf and Goodman, however, the faux outrage from ABC, Gilbert & Fishman cinched my decision to NOT watch it or anything for that matter on ABC ever again. There are more than enough channels and streaming services available these days, so ABC won’t be missed.
Liked the series original run [ with the exception of the last year or two craziness ]. But it had it’s time in the past. Never watched the re-boot. With the baggage that ‘Roseanne’ brought, and one of the young characters being a cross dressing young boy, I had no interest in this series.
Having no interest in the show after ‘Roseanne’ brought her baggage is understandable if that’s how you choose to react, but your disinterest about a cross dressing young boy only comes off as being disgusted by it. Open your eyes to the world, don’t be ignorant.
I definitely will not watch don’t give up your rights Roseanne tell ABC to stick it you hold the cards I would not watch the spin off anyhow I’m not thrilled with the Darlene character anyhow come on people the comment wasn’t that racist people are too sensitive these days people and ABC need to just get over it it’s done it’s over with forget it move on let Roseanne have her show
Whole bunch of racist-defenders on here… If Roseanne gets a single penny then ABC should NOT move forward. Do not reward her for being a terrible person.
I agree Carlos. Lots of racist defenders on here, because they are one too. And Roseanne doesn’t deserve anything for the spin off.
