After scheduling sitcoms on Mondays at 9pm for decades, CBS execs decided to try tech drama Scorpion in that timeslot last season. Despite lots of negative reviews, it became the network’s third-highest rated show in the demo. Will it continue to do well? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.
Based on real-life events, Scorpion revolves around computer expert Walter O’Brien (Elyes Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits. They’re this country’s last line of defense against complex, high-tech threats. The series also stars Robert Patrick, Katharine McPhee, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham and Eddie Kaye Thomas.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/25 update: CBS has renewed this series and 10 others for the 2016-17 season. Details here.
4/26 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The first season of Scorpion averaged a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.96 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Scorpion TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I think the show is fantastic! I love how this season has progressed. Ralph is more involved and the emotional ride has been a good one. I do ask that people remember that this is based on the True life events of Walter O’Brien, so it’s not an all writer created show, so the show will in a whole play out based on these events. I say thank you to the cast for great acting and making the show so enjoyable!
I agree that this show is fantastic, but the situations that Scorpion get into aren’t based on true life events. The real Walter O’Brien’s IQ of 197 isn’t even on paper.
This show is fun to watch……I enjoy the whole crew and how the interact with each other. One’s weakeness is anothers strengths.
I think most of us that have watched Scorpion, in season one and have grew with the characters tend to agree, [ stop dumbing Walter down to the point of becoming a Robot. ! ] We all know he is a genius and is having problems with expressing his feelings to Paige, specifically but for some reason, Season 2 started and has continually turned Walter from this [ “is he going to kiss her, or isn’t he, ” ] to him sitting on the bed of his dying sister [which was a beautiful scene ] and when she passes away,… Read more »
Definitely agree with you somewhat. Still love the show but sometimes things are a bit forced. Hope they’ll keep improving on the writing
This Show Is Great it just needs a little more paige and walter
The haters can step. This is a really fun show. A blast each and every week. Go watch that Empire trash if you don’t like stuff like this.
Scorpion needs more Ralph, more romantic tension between Walter and Paige and less disasters per episode. I really like the show but it has really been disappointing this season.
you do realize Scorpion is an ACTION series and NOT a soap opera?
The rating given on Monday 26 October 2015 if it is higher is because most was tuned into to watch NCIS Los Angles and it did not come on so people stayed with what was on.
I went to Home and Garden.
Scorpion has excellent characters
as well they have plot
Love this show, first season was great but I think the second season needs a little work. It’s all not a terrible show by any means I just think the writers need more cohesion and find the right mix of romance, comedy and technology geek stuff. I’m in love with McPhee but Walter needs to ease up I think the actor Elyes tried too hard sometimes. Now I’m just nitpicking. I’d really hate to see this show go so I’m all for keeping it for a third season, networks these days don’t give shows enough time to find their rhythm… Read more »
Love the show. It’s mystery, romance comedy and so much more. We so look forward to it each week. Hollywood needs to take lessons from you guys. Most of the new shows have already lost our interest. Thanks to you all for real entertanment.
Sue and Steve from Oregon
I’m glad that scorpion has a excellent
show as well a series
Love this show- I think the direction has settled in and if you really think about it, there are endless story lines for this group of intelligent “misfits” to fall into. This is not the cookie cutter type show that is on now adays. This show entertains the whole family. I laughed- no, I actually belly laughed hard at some of the scenes/one liners in the Super Fun Guys epidsode. I think people need to look else where for serious, documentary type stuff. This is not a reality show, this is just plain fun, and I am all in with… Read more »
I still love the show but this second season seems to be dragging a bit already. Too many love stories and not enough of the action/tech scenes. I’m not liking Walter’s new friend, not liking the homeland liaisons, missing more of Ralph and even missing Drew. Last season was about them solving the problems with a bit of the sensitive, feeling parts thrown in but this season it is all about the feelings and it’s getting a bit boring. I mean how many times do we have to see Toby sad over Happy or Sly and Meghan saying I love… Read more »
I think the writers of the show should rethink the wow
it’s over the top and stupid, last season was really good, I am not at all interested in viewing Scorpion now that it has become a comedy! Yes, a comedy, you have to laugh at the over the top events!
This is my opinion, many folks are saying the same thing.
We enjoy Scorpion, but it at times it seems that the writers are struggling to maintain interest. Moments lag significantly, and there are signs of formula in some of the episodes. I like the the ideas, and the potential of the characters and relationships. The acting may benefit from better direction, but I am hoping most for improved writing.
When Scorpion first started, I was not excited by the premier episode and I indicated as much. One viewer said, ” Go back and read a book , old timer,” or something to that effect. Well, it didn’t take long for me to get hooked by the show. Sure, it is fantasy and full of impossible actions,, but it is so much fun. I enjoy the chemistry between the characters. I , agree, with John that there is a sign of formula writing and apparently some challenges to writing weekly episodes that maintain the pace but the positives of a… Read more »
I’ve gotten more enjoyment reading a book than watching most shows. This now includes Scorpion as well.
Please keep show. Fun show to look forward to.
