There’s more work for these Navy SEALs to do in the 2021-22 television season. The SEAL Team TV show has been renewed for a fifth season but is moving from CBS to Paramount+.
SEAL Team stars David Boreanaz, Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., AJ Buckley, and Toni Trucks with Justin Melnick, Tyler Grey, Scott Foxx, and Judd Lormand in recurring roles. The military action-adventure series centers on an exclusive Navy SEAL unit as they train for, plan, and risk their very lives to carry out perilous missions for the sake and honor of their country. Fierce and focused Jason Hayes (Boreanaz) leads the Tier One team. Despite the hardship it causes them and their families, this SEAL team is ready, willing, and able to embark upon secret missions at the drop of a hat. Team members include Jason’s trusted confidant, Ray Perry (Brown Jr.); loyal yet self-destructive Sonny Quinn (Buckley); and young Clay Spenser (Thieriot), a multilingual and second-generation SEAL. Others who are vital to the team’s success are no-nonsense Ensign Lisa Davis (Trucks) and troop commander Lt. Cdr. Eric Blackburn (Lormand).
Airing on Wednesday nights on CBS, the fourth season of SEAL Team averages a 0.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.95 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season three, that’s down by 27% in the demo and down by 20% in viewership.
Though the military drama has a devoted following, it’s one of the lower-rated scripted series on the network. While procedural dramas do very well when sold in International markets, SEAL Team isn’t as popular, reportedly because it focuses on the U.S. military and isn’t as relatable to audiences outside the States. It’s been in danger of being cancelled each year for a while.
The series does very well in streaming so, the fifth season will launch on CBS in the fall but, after four episodes, will then move to Paramount+ as an exclusive. Prior seasons of SEAL Team are already available on the service. According to a comment by Cudlitz, fifth season episodes will be longer.
Well. I also guess I will not be watching Season 5 of the Seal Team either. cannot afford the extra cost to purchase anymore apps.
Thrilled, Seal Team is being renewed…can’t wait. My husband and I will be watching ever episode no matter what network it’s on.
Love the show from Day 1. Very disappointed! Sad I won’t see more. Tired of being jacked around.
I guess I won’t be watching season 5 of the Seal Team. Very disappointing!
No I will not be continue watching it on Paramount I will not pay a subscription video on-demand to watch a program, when CBS can continue showing for free I believe CBS is only to make money they are hungry for more profits
i can tell you why viewership is down. “Seal Team will return in two weeks”. i’m sure that aggravates the teams viewers
‘
Why would you move it, what if you don’t have paramount, I’ve set my recorder on what it’s showing on now, Never heard of paramount. Why do you people spoil a good thing.
I love Seal Team! We watch it faithfully. I can’t believe CBS! I’ll be watching when it moves to Paramount!
Well as a Navy Vet and avid supporter of this Seal Team program it is a sad day for me because of my limited source of income. I watch TV programs as it is on an antenna (aka) rabbit ears now. So sad for people like myself that can’t afford cable or other streaming services to watch something that gives us just a little bit of joy and something to look forward to in our old age is being taken from us because of Big Corporate and the all mighty dollar bill! How do these people sleep at night? :'(
I think it’s a wonderful idea moving to Paramount + Seal Team will still be in production and it’s much better then having it canceled. What’s a few more dollars a month 5.99 They have added a huge movie Library along with All CBS Network Shows! I’m in fir Seal Team P+
SEAL Team needs to stay on CBS. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to get Paramount+ We will miss all of the characters, especially Sonny when he goes on a drinking binge. I think Lt. Davis and he should get together soon.
So upset this wasn’t renewed by CBS. They have to bow down to the politically correct. We are unable to get Paramount Plus so I’m really sad I can’t continue watching this fabulous show.
This is complete bulshit they should’ve kept it on CBS instead of moving it to paramount. now we have to pay for it. I have so.manu streaming services already this is bulshit.
I couldn’t agree more. What the hell is the point of even paying for cable if every network is starting their own streaming service to screw loyal viewers out of even more money. I guess I’ll be done with CBS by the time they are finished, because it will be one less show I’m watching after it leaves CBS. They also announced Evil is moving to Paramount+ as well, so why don’t they just shut CBS down and move everything there. That is ultimately what they will do with every other successful show.
I agree, more shows will be moving to Paramount, its all about $. I can’t give up Seal Team.
I don’t want to give up SEAL Team but I will not pay Paramount+! This is nothing but extortion from a network that already makes a huge profit!
I think you just signed the SEAL TEAM’S death warrant by moving it to Paramount!!!!!! I will not subscribe, a show like this belongs on broadcast TV. You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!
So happy got renewed another season. Look forward new season so good love David Boreanaz such a great actor from Buffy the vampire slayer, Angel, Bones classic icon tv shows.
John, I too am glad an excellent show like Seal Team (And Evil And Clarice) are being renewed, but to the exclusivity of a subscription streaming service? Seriously?
Would you rather it be cancelled? Because the only reason it’s getting renewed at all is because David posted a photo with an actual Marine, saying I hope Seal Team gets renewed, tagging the network in. Just be happy you get to see more episodes. Get the 30 day free trial and watch it then.
NOT a Solution , Greg …
What about Evil? About Clarice?
