What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Spike cable channel, The Shannara Chronicles stars Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Aaron Jakubenko, Marcus Vanco, Vanessa Morgan, Malese Jow, Gentry White, Caroline Chikezie, and Desmond Chiam. When season two kicks off, chaos has overtaken the Four Lands. With the population afraid of the return of magic, a body called The Crimson does not hesitate to intimidate anyone as it hunts down magic users. Meanwhile, in the wake of his losses, Wil (Butler) forsakes his destiny to become a healer. However, after the mysterious Mareth (Jow) saves him, he returns to the struggle.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Shannara Chronicles on Spike averaged a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 246,000 viewers. Compared to season one on MTV, that’s down by 77% and down by 72%, respectively. Learn how The Shannara Chronicles stacks up against other Spike TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Based on the ratings, things already didn’t look good and then they started airing two episodes a night which smelled like a burnoff. The Viacom execs have been shuffling programs on their channels (including BET, CMT, TV Land, VH1, and MTV) so they may be okay with this big dip in the ratings as they try to establish the new Paramount Network. I’ll keep a hungry eye out and will update this page with breaking developments (and, hopefully, my supper plans). Really enjoy the show. Strayed from the books but it is still gripping. Please renew for season 3!!
hopefully if there’s a third season, they’ll ease up on the teen drama crap, cause not everybody wants that. and for gods sake make the characters have more emotion, because this season they were basically emotionless shells of themselves, like when Ander finds out Catania died he barely showed a reaction and never even showed a tear on his face.

season 1 was on mtv season 2 was on spike,spike tv is now on a higher money package of cable then mtv or even what spike was before,i would say thats why ratings dropped,im not paying 200 a month just to get spike tv
Yeah, really hope it´s back for a third series. It´s the only show out there that represents this genre. GOT is Vikings. This is the closest thing to a D and D fantasy realm
I love this show Shannara is one of my favorite shows to look at I’m waiting for season 3 cause Wil in a hole new spot and i know there is going to be a lot of magic and fighting and a lil kissing lol but fa real its a good show.
Of course the ratings are down,,no one knew it was on spike. I love this show and was waiting for it to come on when I by accident saw it had already aired in oct on spike.If I didn’t know,i am sure there are many many more that disn’t know.Advertise and you will have an audience !!!!!
I echo the words spoken by “Angel” a few posts ago: “I agree with Marcus, this is nothing to do with the books. Cogline and Mareth are from the First King of Shannara …Mareth thought to be Bremen’s daughter, but she was in truth half demon (here is Eretria the one being half demon… c’mon !!) Allanon in that book was only fifteen and not even druid… If they had given these characters other names …. maybe the tv series would have been credible … this way … no it can not !! Maybe they will get married but they are making them know diferent people to make longer the serie !!
I hope the series come back as i would like to know what happens to Wil. I hope he comes back to the real world stronger than ever and an amazing warrior.
I hope this series comes back! I would like to find out what happens to Wil, you can’t just leave it on a cliff hanger like that. I hope he comes back able to use strong magic and wield his blade.
I really enjoyed the series. I hope it’s back for another season. I can barley find any other good tv shows bases like this. I just hope Wil becomes a greater magician and find out how he will make his way back to the real world.
This series was on of the best, plus it landed on a must see cliffhanger 😀 I want Wil to return all bad-ass and powerful. I do wish Amberle was back though but that probably wont happen so that’s pretty sad overall its a great tv show in my opinion.
