What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FX cable channel, Taboo follows adventurer James Keziah Delaney (Tom Hardy). In 1814, he returns to London after spending 10 years in Africa. Upon his arrival, he finds that his father has died. Now, James is line to inherit what is left of the family shipping empire. This fact unnerves his half‐sister Zilpha (Oona Chaplin), her husband Thorne Geary (Jefferson Hall), and the chair of the mighty East India Company, Sir Stuart Strange (Jonathan Pryce). Taboo also stars Stephen Graham, Michael Kelly, Jessie Buckley, David Hayman, Tom Hollander, Jason Watkins, Franka Potente, Ed Hogg, Leo Bill, Christopher Fairbank, Richard Dixon, Mark Gatiss, Nicholas Woodeson, Lucian Msamati, and introduces Robert Parker.
Season One Ratings

On March 8, 2017, Taboo was renewed for a second season on FX and BBC One. A premiere date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Despite being described as a mini-series, Taboo co-creator Steven Knight has said he has plans for three seasons. Although the Taboo ratings are decent for an FX series, they’re a bit weak for a first season show. While Taboo doesn’t approach the numbers of top performers American Crime Story and American Horror Story, after them, it is one of the stronger shows on FX. Since Taboo is a co-production with BBC One (which defrays the cost), it is not a big surprise that Taboo has been renewed for a second season.

Please renew this show! I enjoy watching this show so much. Their is nothing like it on Tv. It’s so entertaining and amazing to watch Tom Hardy work his magic in acting! The cast is great. This story line is amazing! Like I said nothing like it on tv! It’s a HIT!
I have to say I love this show. There are not many shows I look forward to every week but this one I do. I think the whole cast is phenomenal. They all do a wonderful job. And Tom Hardy is a wonderful actor. They also have some great writers. Please don’t pull this and add some reality show, or hospital drama. So old and tired. Keep up the great work guys.
Please, please, please renew Taboo for a second season. My family and I have been avid viewers since the first episode and are already having withdrawals knowing next week’s episode being the last for now. The show is captivating and edgy and Tom Harry’s brooding character hypnotic. We anxiously await season 2.

An enjoyment for me to watch these. So much better than most of the junk on TV these days. I’m picky on what I watch and this one got my interest from the first episode. Tom Hardy is superb in this. Hope this is not the end, I want to see more.

Oh my gosh Taboo with Tom Hardy is a wonder guilty pleasure, that I love to “hate – watch”. I sincerely hope that FX picks it up for more seasons. It was a slow beginning, but now it’s blooming into a controlled chaotic, hot mess. I can’t get enough.
I really love this show. I have been a Tom Hardy fan for a long time, he is phenomenal! I am hoping he and the cast are interested in more seasons. They are all great.
I like gritty Tom Hardy and am happy to see some other significant and familiar acting presences. The show is really different than the spy/law and order/legal dramas suffocating TV these days. I enjoy the different facets it draws from, including the cultural ‘witch craft’ stuff, not far from AHS reach. I’d be disappointed if it didn’t get the 3 season run they anticipated.
This show is the best thing on tv. Tom Hardy gives depth and feel to every moment of Taboo. Please, please, please continue the series for the three seasons the writer has planned.
I am totally in LOVE with this show and hope they renew it. I agree with the others that I cannot get enough of this show. I truly follow it, listen to pod casts, research it. I’m obsessed too!
It would be a total shame to cancel it as those of us that are history or period nerds would be missing out on an amazing show.
