Episode 01-01 & 02: Monday, 9/26/11
The two hour premiere attracted a 3.1 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 9.22 million. It was in third place for the timeslots and surely a disappointment for FOX considering the production expenses and promotion.
On the positive side, the two hours showed very good retention which means that most people who tuned in kept watching until the end. That’s a positive indicator for next week.
When you compare this with last season’s 8pm premiere of House, the network was down by 24% in the demo. On the positive side, Terra Nova improved over last year’s quickly-cancelled Lone Star premiere by 238%.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Terra Nova TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

This is the pits!!!! This is a great show. Never missed an episode. Why would you want to cancel this program? My kids are very dissapointed!
[…] Nova (FOX) An expensive series to produce, Terra Nova registered only mediocre ratings so the network ultimately decided to cancel […]
Please don’t cancel my whole family watches this , coworkers, class mates and close friends we love this show!
please bring ti back i want to know what will happen to the families after the bad guys get there if he found his girl all kinds of stuff your leaving up in the air its just not fair
why would you all do that pple like me like watch nova with all the pple we got to be apart of something no one else did before you guys are so stupid you told a very good show off becaze you put in a bad time slot just stupid
Yes Fox has a tendency to cancel good shows rather arbitrarily. Our problem here in Texarkana Texas,is that our Fox affiliate likes to pretend it is a real tv station unlike when it first came on the air and was a source of alternative entertainment.Constant interruptions by local sports or ignorant racing or for whatever reason, with a local news show at nine which is inconvenient for any tv watching. And the big three aren’t offering much better. Reality crud etc..Datelines,shows like it,and the same o same o type of cop shows.Things with a new twist are much appreciated and in short supply.NBC… Read more »
I don’t understand the great shows Fox is cancelling. Terra Nova is a gem!!!!
They cancelled Human Target last year, awesome show! Just because shows have low ratings doesn’t make them not worth keeping. Sometimes it’s just bad time slots.
I loved this show and think that it is a crying shame that it has been cancelled. Why can we not get rid of the trash such as Survivor, The Batchelor, etc. All the reality TV shows – suck big time. This show sent a good message about taking care of the planet.
I loved this show. Me and my husband couldn’t wait for each episode. It is a shame that shows like this don’t get a second season to shine.
I loved that me and my family watched it every monday and loved it is my favorite shows on television I still have them recorded and watch them and I would really like to see the show come back.
I recorded it in my DVR and watched it all in one day. I really ejoyed it. It should be continued. The message it send is a good one. Take care of what you have for it can be taken away from you. I was looking forward to seeing if the writer were going to have the enviroment take care of the bad guys. Now we will never know.
We loved it and would love to see more. WE DON’T WANT IT TO BE CANCELLED.
Its a ashamed they will not continue such a great show! This show has a lot of good messages and should be renewed. Its strange that shows that are kind of trashy still get air time and shows like this get cancelled. I watch less and less TV because of this downward trend and the poor selection of good shows that show family values like this show had.
I hate that you canceled such a great show my family realy loved watching it together!!
Really loved this show! It’s been a long time since my 11 year old boy and I both waited on the edge of our seat for each next episode!!! Please reconsider! Stop cancelling the good ones….
