The new series on FX, Terriers, has been garnering some solid reviews. But, how did it do in the ratings? Should it continue for many years or be put to sleep…er, cancelled?
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
Per the overnight ratings, the Terriers premiere looks to be underwhelming at best. The debut attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about 1.6 million total viewers. While cable ratings are typically smaller than those of the major networks, FX has seen much better.

To put it in perspective, in September 2008, Sons of Anarchy debuted to a 1.2 rating in the key demo and 2.53 million viewers. This past March, Justified’s premiere brought in a 1.5 demo rating and 4.15 million.
Even Nip/Tuck, which had sharply declined over the years, averaged a 0.8 in the demo and 1.7 million viewers for its final season — in the same Wednesday night timeslot.
So, Terriers has gotten off to a very poor start. FX is planning to pair repeats with new installments of Sons of Anarchy. It seems doubtful but maybe this will help. Right now, it doesn’t look like Terriers will survive past its first season of 13 episodes.
But, what do you think? Is Terriers worth watching or should it be cancelled? Cancel or keep it?

I have to say Terriers is intriguing and exciting and it was so easy to become invested in the characters! Please keep it! I have to say that I too have not seen any trailers advertising the show and I believe that would have helped a great deal! FX needs to give it another chance by running trailers for the repeats that it will be showing and renewing it, at least, for another 6 – 12 shows and PROMOTING IT!!!!!! It’s a really exciting show!
Keep it. best show on FX. easily.
Its a great show. Shawn Ryan knows what he’s doing. The fade to black at the traffic light was right out of “The Shield” This show really deserves another shot and print and TV promos.
GReat show. My husband and I enjoy watching it every week. Don’t get rid of something that we look forward to seeing each week!
GREAT SHOW!!!!!
I truly hope they renew it.This show is a breath of fresh air.PLEASE KEEP IT!!!!!!
This was a great show! Tha acting, storyline, character relationships all made me look forward to Wednesday night. The first poster was right…FX did not promote this show at all…Bring it back, throw a little support behind it and it will take off.
Just watched the season finale and I am hoping they do another. Very unusual and entertaining series.
Keep it! This show is awesome! Love those guys!
This show is SO good! It does not deserve the same fate as Damages or The Riches (I’m still not over THAT one!). Donal Logue is incredible! All the acting is top rate. Justified is much slower (though good). PLEASE keep it!
BEST SHOW ON TV….BAR NONE…END OF STORY!
Great show! The finale was excellent. I really hope they renew it. The same happened with Justified and the did renew it, but they let Damages go and now it is coming on DirecTV in Jan. FX has a lot of great shows and Terriers is one of them.
GREAT SHOW, SHOULD BE BROUGHT BACK.
Keep it! I agree with the first poster. I have seen non-stop commercials for other shows but none for ‘Terriers’. Every Wed. I changed my FB status to promote the show – I tried harder than FX. The final episode didn’t disappoint. I will miss the characters 🙁 if it’s canceled. Here’s to the show’s cast and crew – GREAT JOB!!
KEEP IT!!! Its such a good show!
if terriers doesn’t get renewed for another season it is all FX’s fault I didn’t see one commercial advertising it except for the ones with the dogs before the Premier but I only saw that on FX no other channel and there wondering why the show didn’t get good ratings ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME if nobody knows about it no ones going to see it. Its like throwing a birthday party without inviting anybody and then wondering where everybody is it just doesn’t make any sense. And that really pisses me off because when justified came out I saw… Read more »
