Airing on TBS, The Detour stars Jason Jones, Natalie Zea, Ashley Gerasimovich, Liam Carroll, and Daniella Pineda. In the fourth season of the road trip comedy, the Parker family embarks on world-wide search for their runaway teen daughter, Delilah, which spans from Tibet to Paraguay.
The fourth season of The Detour averaged a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 722,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 31% and 27%, respectively.
TBS has cancelled several of its original comedy series in the past year and The Detour joins Wrecked, People of Earth, and Angie Tribeca in the television graveyard. The channel does have some returning comedies, however. They include American Dad!, The Last OG, Miracle Workers, and Search Party. Animated comedy Final Space was renewed for a second season but moved to Adult Swim (where it’s been doing better in the ratings). The fate of The Guest Book is still up in the air.
Though it’s been cancelled by TBS, there is a chance that The Detour could continue elsewhere. There’s been talk that the series, created by series star Jason Jones and Samantha Bee (host of TBS’ Full Frontal with Samantha Bee), could move to HBO Max. WarnerMedia’s forthcoming streaming service is overseen by Kevin Reilly, the head of TBS and TNT.
What do you think? Did you like The Detour TV show? Should it have been cancelled? Would you watch a fifth season of this comedy on another outlet?
Bring it Back this Show was hilarious amazon pick it up
I hope they get some
Loved it. One of my favorites shows.
This is a crazy, wacky, fun show! I’m very disappointed with TBS -but maybe it’ll get a 2nd life on HBO. Fingers crossed.
I loved Seasons 1 & 2, and noticed a decline in Season 3 but still mostly enjoyed it. However, Season 4 was a train wreck. The plot line was ridiculous, humorless, and the show was just plain dumb. I would watch re-runs of Congressional testimony on C-Span before I would watch a 5th season of this crap-a-palooza.
I loved watching this show. I am disappointed it is cancelled and would have liked to see what happened next. I hope it gets picked up by another chanel or TBS brings it back.
It was a garbage show along with a lot of other TBS originals. Let it remain in the graveyard with all the other TBS originals that are there.
Great show most people don’t even know it was on hope it gets picked up by another network
I LOVE this show. The humor is so wonderfully refreshingly smart! Wish it would continue. I don’t know if I would have access to a new platform but would watch it if I could.
God no. it was horrible and ridiculous. i knew it would be cancelled as the writing and horrible acting were going down hill fast
Yeah I thought this show was hilarious reminded me a bit of the Vacation Movies at last the first few seasons. But the physical comedy is great Jason Jones and Natalie Zea were great. All you people saying bad things did you ever watch more than a few episodes and made up your mind. TBS makes ome bad 30 min comedies like Angie Tribeca was terrible and Dumb, but wrecked was not that bad I enjoyed that one, and also Miracle workers was good too. Also the guest book was pretty decent too. I always like TBS comedies well most… Read more »
I’m not surprised.
The show managed to make something entertaining out of absurdity but season 4 took it to a level that was so way out that any real sense went out of the window.
If Detour moves to HBO, can we retroactively edit/augment seasons 1-4? You just know TBS censored (all the sex, language, violence) that HBO would have allowed.
Nowhere does it say they were trying to move it to HBO. It said HBO Max which is Warner bros upcoming streaming service.
Great show… Certainly funnier and more inventive and 99% of the other crap that’s on television.
We really enjoyed seasons 1-3. Season 4 not so much. It was time to go.
Yes Season 4 was random and wasn’t as good as first seasons but almost every show has a season where it dies down and is not that good Give it another chance and see if another season will do better.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Hope one of the best shows on TV makes it to HBO Go!
Tbh, I have no idea what was going on in S4… I just think it was time. Enjoyed the ride tho!
