NBC isn’t staying friends with The Enemy Within. The network has cancelled the freshman drama series so there won’t be a second season coming for 2019-20.
A psychological thriller, The Enemy Within stars Jennifer Carpenter, Morris Chestnut, Raza Jaffrey, Kelli Garner, Cassandra Freeman, and Noah Mills. The character-based drama centers on former CIA operative and now infamous traitor Erica Shepherd (Carpenter) and FBI Agent Will Keaton (Chestnut). In order to apprehend a looming threat, Keaton must tap Shepherd’s expertise, even though she’s serving a life sentence in a supermax prison.
The first season of The Enemy Within averaged a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.40 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 20th.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, the series ranks 10th in the demo and seventh in total viewers. Based on the rankings, it would seem like the series would be renewed but the ratings trended downward as the season progressed. Considering that The Enemy Within had The Voice as a lead-in, NBC execs were likely not satisfied with the show’s low retention rate either.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Village and Abby’s TV shows.

so sad to see The Enemy Within canceled. it was a very intriguing show and should have stayed. Not sure why some of the other shows couldn’t have been canceled instead…I loved Morris Chestnut and Jennifer Carpenter….bring it back….
We looked forward every week to watch ” The Enemy Within” until we couldn’t find it. Please put this suspenseful show back on. It actually had an interesting story line. Give us a season 2.
Great show! Full of suspence! So unpredictable which I loved. Never knew who the enemy truly was. Great writing! So sorry to see it was not picked up hope another Network picks it up
I am a tv addict, thus I have begun to limit my viewing time, but not watching EW was not a compromise I was willing to make. I kept asking myself who is the real threat, where is the next traitor coming from? The suspense was captivating. I guess I’ll never know..
I watch almost zero tv, because of my schedule. However, my wife said she really wanted me to watch this new series that she thought was a really different take on an FBI type show. We started over from the pilot show and I became completely invested in this show. The storyline was incredible, the characters and the actors that played them exceptional. Just a very fresh show. And them, snatch, you cancel it. Please, figure out how to save this show. It deserves a chance. Give it another season. TV is almost all reality now. This show had bones!!!
If you really want to see this show get picked up on another network, then let’s do a campaign to save it. This story is not about some sexy supermodel agent or gorgeous male love connection. It is about a loving mother that had to sacrifice her reputation and her family to do the right thing and continued to convince the viewers that she was not a traitor to our county. Please, this was a show with some actual grip!!! Help save it. Lets’ start a FB campaign, a save this show campaign, ask your friends and family for help.
I’m so sad that there won’t be a season 2.. nbc made a huge mistake!!! So disappointed.. please can’t netflix take it over

I am very very sad and desapointed and shock that you canceled the ennemy within.i am sure you prefer to make a stupid show instead. You could give this mervellous show an other chance. Please continue ignoring those who love the show because you need to like a very serious and interresting and need some intelligence to appreciated this show and put stupid shows that needs no intelligence to like your stupid show . Great show to be cancelled and then nonsensical shows renewed. Enemy Within kept you so interested and in suspense of what was going to happen next. Shame on CBS!

My husband and I watched it all of the time. We really loved it. Why do they keep canceling great shows for other nonsense? WHY?
