What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, The Genetic Detective follows investigative genetic genealogist CeCe Moore and her work with DNA technology company Parabon NanoLabs. In the series, Moore and her team revolutionize crime-solving by working with police departments and accessible crime scene DNA to help trace the path of a criminal suspect’s family tree, uncover their identity and bring them to justice. Since 2018, Moore has used her unique research skills to transform the face of crime-solving, helping to identify more than 100 violent criminal suspects.
Season One Ratings

Telly’s Take
The ratings for this show were pretty low. Moore has a solid following and the series seems inexpensive to produce but there’s been no word of it being renewed after more than two years. The show’s also been removed from ABC’s press site. There’s always a possibility that Genetic Detective could be revived for a second season but, for now, it appears to be done. Genetic Detective is a smart and current dynamic show that encourages a positive attitude toward the science of criminology and the best work together police and the general public can engage in to make our communities safe and family centred places to raise children and live with respect for others! Hope it it renewed as it shows that the entertainment industry has some dignity left in it for quality programming and not just SHOCK SHOWS or the ever many reality fake shows that pit people against each other instead of working together!❤️

The Genetic Detective is the best program we have seen in years. It is entertaining, full of information, and educational. Would that more substantive programs will emerge like this one. The mindless game shows, manic screaming, disturbing shows, almost 24/7 recitals of how many people are dying of coronavirus…this stuff is hazardous to one’s health!!! Tragic, but useless to have to hear it ad nauseum. Come on back, Ce Ce…you are just great.

I love this show. Cece does a fabulous job of finding the criminal and I am so impressed. Please keep this show. We can’t wait till Tuesday nights just for this show. We are so impressed with her talent and skill. We feel so happy for the families she brings closure to and I cry every time. I wish I could do this. I love genealogy and we have all taken a DNA test. Genetic Detective is a fascinating television show. Certainly educating and entertaining. I look forward to the next series.
