TV show description:
In this reality series, adventurer and survivalist Bear Grylls gives the modern American man the ultimate challenge: Can a man of today’s world survive on a deserted island without the luxuries — or even the basics — of contemporary everyday life?
Unlike other reality shows, there are no prizes, no eliminations, no winners, and no camera teams. The 14 American men are isolated on a deserted island with only the clothes on their backs and with minimal survival tools — committed to filming every moment themselves.
These modern men, who are accustomed to roofs over their heads, restaurants, and the benefits of technology, are stripped of all modern conveniences and catapulted back to the basics. They must hunt for food, source water, erect shelter, build community and try to survive using only their strength, determination and know-how.
They all have something to prove to themselves and this experiment takes them to the very edge of human endurance as they test their physical, mental, and emotional limits.

What do you think? Do you like The Island TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
It’s interesting to see how ravishingly unintelligent these individuals are, they whimper about not having food when there is a island full of potential food sources around them. I’ve known women with more gumption than these members of the male species, and I have known men who have earned the right to be called men who make those alleged men on the island show look like children in a literal stand point. Another remark is that they Boohoo about there camp flooding, and how it’s such a long hike to there water source well here’s the latest about this, first… Read more »
this was a great show they should continue making this series
This was OK, not good, not bad, not a comedy, nor a headline act. I watch the show and think, what a pitty that these handful of men are representing all men of the world. One had a nervous breakdown, another eats rubbish , to become impacted, the other becomes a hermit, another who runs a mock nude, then those who whine about how hungry they are well if there so hungry they should be out there looking for something to eat on the island instead of just lying around doing nothing. Now about the caiman I’m very happy that… Read more »
I think the show is a crock of Shi*. The Cayman that was supposedly caught already had a black tie wrap on its jaw!!
Huh I never noticed the black tie wrap on its jaw? I’m going to have to watch that part again, there have been a few things on the show that’d make me think it might be a setup. Especially the fact that they didn’t say what happened to the people who left the island I mean that’s something people would like to know. It’s like boringly unfinished since no one knows if they lived or croaked from there injuries. But if it was real I personally think it was smart of them to eat the Cayman if they were hungry.… Read more »
I watched the whole thing boring , of touchy, feelly, must be PC .TV and to top it off they killed the caiman, because they said they were starving, even though they knew that they would be leaving the next day. no one was ill, All for the camera! Shame on them all!
Take it off the air! The host Bear is a joke and can’t hold a candle to Jeff Prost or Phil Keoghan. Participants are whims. And show is a wate of time.
loved it
I think the show is great !! The police chief was my favorite. My heart went out to him. He has most likely seen unspeakable things in his lifetime he’d just like to forget. I think that is what he was trying to do on the Island. That, I believe, was his reason for isolation from the others. He was just trying to re-new himself and rid all the issues in his past life. Just think about all the sleepless nights he may have had during his life due to horrible things happening to humans. I also loved that some… Read more »
The show was good, but seriously why they didn’t move closer to there water supply, and another thing you know the guy who has gotten impacted from eating coconut shells, and crab shells why on earth would anyone eat crab shells and coconut shells that won’t digest. I mean come on its obvious it’s not going to digest either the guy was that naive or he was just too lazy to pick out the shells. Whatever the reason for his bad choice the guy most likely had his intestines leaking out inside from a puncture which would explain his overheating… Read more »
Why oh WHY is their camp 5 hours, YES FIVE hours away from water. Also, you get water and fire going first, then look for food while you are still strong, not wait until you are dehydrated, hungry, tired and weak. Ridiculous. That’s what happens when you put men’s egos together. I almost can’t watch due to all the stupidity.
Great Show. It would be nice to get updates on the sick and injured that leave the island.
im glad the gay guy left, that is all he talked about., everybody knows!!! MOVE ON!
I love the Island, it is so raw and real!!
This has to be the worst representation of ” man ” ….my 10 yr (girl) could survive on that island. Maybe you should have them be naked and not afraid.
The shows a zero.
I’m quite enjoying the show. It’s a true life Survivor without all the annoying talk about alliances and tribal council. I’m also learning a bit about survival. When I saw the coconuts I though “they’ll be fine”, then bear pops up to explain what the do to you digestive system…whoops.
Gil – I disagree. Kelly & Beverly – I am enjoying it too. It’s what happens to REAL people in a situation like this and it’s not so easy to survive. I think they’re doing a decent job. Next week is the finale. Based on some of the comments here – I don’t know if they’ll be back. That’s a shame.
Next time, get some participants who aren’t bickering little teenage girls.
TG – it’s what happens psychologically – they are hungry, thirsty, bug-bitten & tired. I think it’s interesting to see how they behave when there isn’t a million dollars on the line; just a true learning experience.
this is to TG who mentioned the men seemed like bickering little teenage girls. Hey buddy, put yourself in that position. I bet you would be pretty much the same as them. What did you expect them to do ? For the short time they were on the Island, I thought things went pretty well. At least there were no ‘cat fights’.
