Why did ABC cancel The Kids Are Alright? Recently, network boss Karey Burke addressed ABC’s decision to end the TV show after only one season, TVLine reports.
Set in the 1970s, the sitcom centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The cast includes Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard.
During this year’s summer TCA press conference, Burke explained why ABC decided to cancel The Kids Are Alright, saying:
We looked at many measures. We looked at multi-platform viewing. We looked at social media sentiment. There did not seem to be a strong enough fan base at the time. These things always come down to business decisions, and this was a tough, tough decision.”
On Twitter, star Michael Cudlitz responded to the comment:

The kids are alright was the best show on tv. The way things are going in this country I’ve a feeling it was not politically correct
THIS WAS THE BEST THING THE NETWORK HAD GOING FOR IT. I guess since it involved PEOPLE w/no green screen & witty smart dialogue it was doomed. Maybe if they’d thrown in some zombies/aliens &/or IDIOTS trying to be INFLUECNER they’d have kept it. God it’s depressing

This sitcom was the BEST. It was so witty,realistic,wholesome and acted out well. No wonder it got cancelled by this clueless network. BRING BACK THIS FUNNY,FAMILY FRIENDLY GREAT SHOW.
Great show ABC HAS NO FN IDEA WHAT THEIR DOING THEY CANCLE AWESOME SHOWS LIKE LAST MAN. THE SHOW SPECHLESS. AND OF COURSE THE KIDS ARE ALLRIGHT THE MUPPETS. THEY NEED TO CANCEL THE PEOPLE OF ABC NOW THEY OWN FOX AND THAT SUCKS
The boss from ABC is clueless! I already stop watching that network! I’m done. I’m boycotting ABC! TKAA will be the only show that will make me go back to that network !
