Is there still a future for The Kids Are Alright? Recently, star Mary McCormack spoke with The Los Angeles Times about her efforts to save the cancelled ABC TV show.
Set in the 1970s, the sitcom centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The cast includes Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard.
In the interview, McCormack says she thinks ABC cancelled The Kids Are Alright before its time:
It feels too short. It’s hard to get something really funny and nuanced and moving, and I thought our show was all those things. There’s a lot of stuff I don’t understand about how shows find new homes, but you do hear about it. And I guess because you hear about it, your fans think there’s hope. There are just so many networks now — networks I’ve never heard of. So I’m still holding out a little hope that someone will look at us and see we’re like the already housebroken cute shelter pet that needs someone to adopt them.”

This was a good family show & wasn’t given a chance, I enjoyed it very much.
This show was great. Finally a tv show without sex scenes, violence, or excessive gory details like those ridiculous medical shows.
I am very choosy about the new shows I watch. I don’t even bother watching one medical show anymore because I know there will be gory scenes. Why is it neccessary to see a Dr cutting open a body? Why cant this be implied?
Bring back family oriented shows; something that children can watch. They all don’t have to have happy endings each week but it’s nice to see how families interact with real life issues..both good and bad.
Best comedy on tv. ABC needs to get it’s act together.

We really liked this show. Only one of a few over the last few years that we really made an effort not to miss.
I loved the show im also hoping ABC will change there mind and bring back for season 2 or another network will pick it up. Great show. Please bring it back.

I hope someone sees how great it is and picks it up. It already has a built-in audience. I will absolutely continue watching if that happens. Fingers crossed.

The Kids are Alright was the BEST new show last season!! I couldn’t wait for each new episode. Don’t understand why it was canceled.
