TV show description:
Living in the small town of Orson, Indiana (the “middle” of the country), Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton) is a supermom. She’s kept busy wrangling three quirky kids, trying to keep her husband on track and working to sell cars for a local dealership. Unfortunately, she doesn’t do any of the jobs in a way that makes her very proud.
At work, she’s the third best salesperson but there’s only three salespeople and she consistently fails to make a sale. Her grumpy boss, Mr. Ehlert (Brian Doyle-Murray), is constantly threatening to fire her. Her friend and number two salesman, Bob (Chris Kattan), isn’t much better off and helps Frankie out where he can.
Mike Heck (Neil Flynn) is Frankie’s husband and works as a quarry manager. He doesn’t have a very orthodox parenting style, isn’t a very sensitive husband, and is known for being brutally honest. He loves Frankie though and together, they do their best to get through life.
Axl Heck (Charlie McDermott) is the oldest of the two Heck boys and was conceived during his parents’ Guns ‘n Roses period. He’s a typical teenage boy who’s sullen, eats the family out of house and home, and also has a penchant for walking around in his underwear. When his parents want to punish Axl, they wish that he had something cool like a car, TV, or cell phone that they could take away from him.
Sue Heck (Eden Sher) is the Hecks’ teenage daughter. As the middle child, she seems to be suffering from Jan Brady syndrome and doesn’t seem to be able to find her niche. Sue fails at everything she tries with great gusto. She never gives up but her parents kind of wish she would.
Brick Heck (Atticus Shaffer) is the youngest son and is known for his odd behavior. His best friend is his backpack and he whispers to himself for comfort. He loves to read and is likely the most intelligent Heck in the family.
Episode #215 – A Heck of a Ride, Part 2
After nine hilarious and heartfelt seasons, a Heck leaves the nest as the family takes a road trip to Denver, where Axl will start his new job – and new life away from home.
First aired: May 22, 2018.
What do you think? Do you like The Middle TV show? Do you think it should have been renewed for a 10th season?
keep the show there is to few good show that are comedy
the middle has been one of the most wonderful comedy series and everyone we know are upset that it is ending…. there are a lot of terrible shows that seem to keep coming back. why the middle????????????? we love the show and feel like a part of the family of the show… wonderful characters….. and would love to see it reinstated as returned.
I was very sorry to hear that The Middle was not returning at the end of this season. It is a GREAT show in today’s world of movies & TV. In spite of all of the Heck’s problems, there is usually a moral or lesson to be learned from their attempt at whatever is happening. I LOVE watching the show. Great, great acting. It is so real life–events that most parents and kids can relate to. And there is not the fowl language that is on SO many TV shows. Parents and kids can watch together. SURE hope someone will… Read more »
I would love to see the middle renewed for another season. It’s such a great show. I can’t figure out why you keep replacing the show this season with other programs. I and several others are beginning to lose interest. I used to watch it every Tuesday evening at 7:00. Then you put Roseanne on at 7 and move the middle to 7:30. That’s fine but now you’re replacing the middle with other programs. Why? Why can’t you just finish out their last season with a new show every week until it’s done?
I love The Middle – hate it’s ending!
I think the middle should have stayed on air for another season and why do they seem to cut the middle espisodes here in april what is going on>
I want to see Brick grow up and Sue get married!
I think it should keep going. I have been watching all of the kids grow up but Brick. I want to see Brick grow up and Sue get married!
The Middle is the most entertaining show on television & I am sorry to see it cancelled.
I love the Middle and so wish it was not going off the air. More like a real american family than other sitcoms. Struggling but loving family. Love this show so much and make me think of me and my family while I was growing up. Wish the show could go on.
The Middle is the only legitimate family show on TV!!! Please don’t replace it with all the crappy shows you have… This is the only show that makes sense of everything……
It’s a great show with family related issues, I hope they continue on.
This is the last season, FYI. But ABC gave “The Middle” two extra episodes
Love Love Love this show. I look forward to each week. I love a great comedy. The acting is great and so many shows we as a family relate to. I hope this is not the finale season It would be a shame, I look forward to each new episode. I eve n watch reruns and laugh just as hard.
The show is so funny because all 3 kids have such different personalities & the parents have to know the right way to deal with each kid. It is my favorite show.
This show is the best 30 minutes of my week. It makes me laugh at myself for doing the same things as Frankie and grateful I don’t. Being a mom is hard work, and family life has lots of fantastic moments and mishaps. I started watching in 2013 so I had a lot of shows to catch up on. After that first show I was hooked. It never disappoints.
I love this show.
