TV show description:
Living in the small town of Orson, Indiana (the “middle” of the country), Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton) is a supermom. She’s kept busy wrangling three quirky kids, trying to keep her husband on track and working to sell cars for a local dealership. Unfortunately, she doesn’t do any of the jobs in a way that makes her very proud.
At work, she’s the third best salesperson but there’s only three salespeople and she consistently fails to make a sale. Her grumpy boss, Mr. Ehlert (Brian Doyle-Murray), is constantly threatening to fire her. Her friend and number two salesman, Bob (Chris Kattan), isn’t much better off and helps Frankie out where he can.
Mike Heck (Neil Flynn) is Frankie’s husband and works as a quarry manager. He doesn’t have a very orthodox parenting style, isn’t a very sensitive husband, and is known for being brutally honest. He loves Frankie though and together, they do their best to get through life.
Axl Heck (Charlie McDermott) is the oldest of the two Heck boys and was conceived during his parents’ Guns ‘n Roses period. He’s a typical teenage boy who’s sullen, eats the family out of house and home, and also has a penchant for walking around in his underwear. When his parents want to punish Axl, they wish that he had something cool like a car, TV, or cell phone that they could take away from him.
Sue Heck (Eden Sher) is the Hecks’ teenage daughter. As the middle child, she seems to be suffering from Jan Brady syndrome and doesn’t seem to be able to find her niche. Sue fails at everything she tries with great gusto. She never gives up but her parents kind of wish she would.
Brick Heck (Atticus Shaffer) is the youngest son and is known for his odd behavior. His best friend is his backpack and he whispers to himself for comfort. He loves to read and is likely the most intelligent Heck in the family.
Episode #215 – A Heck of a Ride, Part 2
After nine hilarious and heartfelt seasons, a Heck leaves the nest as the family takes a road trip to Denver, where Axl will start his new job – and new life away from home.
First aired: May 22, 2018.
What do you think? Do you like The Middle TV show? Do you think it should have been renewed for a 10th season?
I loved this show but it never got the support it deserved. It really was funny and the stories kept up with the kids aging but it might have been running out of ideas. Thanks for the fun
Loved the show, one of the good ones but unfortunately those are the ones they take off, too smart for the baseline viewer I guess.
I agree with how wonderful this show is, how sad to end, would love a 10th season, and it would be fantastic to see holiday specials!
It’s a real sham that this show is go off the air I really liked it . It seems that all the good shows they take off . Maybe they will bring it back .
Hate that this show is ending, loved it from the beginning!!! One of the only shows on TV that I watch anymore. I agree with someone else who suggested they at least have a holiday special or something like that once in awhile. We really need more shows like this!!!
yes yes I love this show
I would love to see a tenth season, the Finale left us hanging…. One more season and a REAL ending would be nice.
It is our favorite show! We laugh still at the reruns! I hate so much to see it go!
Maybe consider a comeback or yearly get together shows would be great or spin off with the kids. Although, Patricia makes the show great.
Thanks for all the years of laughter!
I love this show. I would like to see it go for a tenth season, I particularly like the way Brick is played by Atticus Shaffer. I find Charlie McDermott goes over the top sometimes and is annoying, but the rest of the cast and the show is so good I can live with that.
Favorite show on TV and the one I look forward to the most. Sad to see it ending and hope it comes back again or at least some holiday episodes. Sue deserved and Emmy as did the show!
This is a GREAT SHOW! I so hope the Network and the Actors are willing to come back for another 8 months & make it an even 10 seasons! It’s clean, funny, and there’s something to learn every week especially from Sue’s indomitable spirit : – D. It would be hysterical to see Axl marry, have a son of his own and find out what it’s like from the parental side. Sue get her dream come true next-door-neighbor husband, and, largely unnoticed by his parents but owning every scene he’s in Brick, make an enormous scientific discovery that vaults him… Read more »
I look forward to this show every week. I can only image its being cancelled because the actors aren’t up for another season, because this show is smart and funny.
The show has run it’s course, I suppose, but I’d have watched a tenth season for sure, love it. What annoys me about some other sitcoms is where they add another child in around season seven. Glad “The Middle” didn’t do that. Good to go out on top.
I love The Middle. It is real in many ways. Heart broken to see it go. Wrong move on network part.
Please renew this show………. it is FUNNY, CLEAN and such an enjoyable show. Please keep this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I say keep the show, there is nothing new or old to replace the Middle. Besides being a HECK of a good show, what the other networks have to offer is not their equal.
