Is the third season of FOX’s The Resident TV show just what the doctor ordered? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether TV shows are cancelled or renewed. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustration when their viewing habits and opinions aren’t considered, we’d like to offer you the chance to rate all of the third season episodes of The Resident here. *Status update below.
A FOX medical drama, The Resident stars Matt Czuchry, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Emily VanCamp, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves, and Morris Chestnut. The series follows a group of doctors at Chastain Memorial Hospital, as they face personal and professional challenges on a daily basis. Although its motto is, “Committed to excellence,” the hospital is staffed with human beings, and humans are flawed. In the third season, the doctors are surrounded by new rules and physicians, as Red Rock Mountain Medical takes over the hospital. The staff includes senior resident internist Conrad Hawkins (Czuchry), resident internist Devon Pravesh (Dayal), nurse practitioner Nicolette Nevin (VanCamp), surgical resident Mina Okafor (Wilson), cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. AJ Austin (Warner), orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Kit Voss (Leeves), neurosurgeon Dr. Barrett Cain (Chestnut), and CEO Dr. Randolph Bell (Greenwood).

Definitely renew for season 4 please. It goes up against the heavy hitter, NCIS and holds its own. I watch it over NCIS and watch it later on the DVR

My husband and I have been watching this show since it started and love it! PLEASE don’t cancel The Resident! Love the cast and great story-line.
I have and would watch any show that Matt Czuchry stars in. He is an incredible actor. I love the story lines and plots. I think the show has a fantastic cast. It is my must watch show every week. Please, please, please renew this show. The characters are interesting and diverse.
You guys at FOX Studios have a choice to make. If you add in the Hulu, and 7 days out recorded watching, The Resident is a major winner in the ratings race. I have brought 5 people into this show and now they are hooked and not one is a medical show watcher. I am one person, how many others are bringing in fans? I agree with everything you wrote. What if 500 people watch The Resident, but only 2 doing the Neilson rating
watch the show. So they cancel based on that? So what about the ones who faithfully watch every episode & have told friends about it & they now watch too?
This is the only show on FOX that I find worth watching.

I agree with you Susan! The story lines on this show are very well written. ‘The Resident’ Doctors are much more real than on other medical shows of the last few years. In med school, then after an injury & illness & actually living in the hospital for months recovering – I learned how Hospital Staff becomes a family, that can become disfunctional. W/Compassion but trained to ‘swallow & ignore it’ by senior staff as having too much compassion or familiarity w/patients may harm their ability to care for them competently.
