A superhero comedy based on Edlund’s long-running comic, The Tick stars Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Valorie Curry, Brendan Hines, Yara Martinez, Scott Speiser, and Jackie Earle Haley. The story unfolds in place in a world where superheroes have been real for many many years and follows a nervous accountant, Arthur Everest (Newman), and a strange (sometimes clueless) blue superhero named The Tick (Serafinowicz). Together, they begin an adventure that’s filled with crazy super villains, dangerous vigilantes, and freakish superheroes.
The pilot of The Tick was released in August 2016 and the 11 additional episodes of the first season were released in two batches, in August 2017 and February 2018. The 10 episodes of season two were unveiled on April 5th of this year.
Edlund revealed that The Tick had been cancelled by Amazon via a Twitter post:
I'm sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with @TheTickTV I'm not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message. Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series.

Seriously…! This is a fantastic show and just needs more time together more followers! Amazon Prime did a great job forecasting and plot. I really hope someone picks us up if Amazon is not going to keep it then I hope Netflix or one of the other up-and-coming providers pick the show up. I would seriously watch 8 to 10 seasons of this as long as the writing is good. Which I can’t see it being bad anytime soon based on the plots that they’ve been able to bring up

I would definitely watch this show anywhere. Mistakes like this cancellation are why I will cancel my membership at the end of the year.
This show is great! The writing is spot-on, hilarious, touching, absurd, and relatable all at the same time. It really needed more promotion from Amazon – this show should have been absolutely, well, unsquashable! For the love of all that is holy, someone save season 3 (and beyond)!

It’s been an age since I found a series that I loved for the characters, story telling and humour. A writer that manages to bypass the dark moodiness of characters and gives us insight and so much humour. I lave the Arrow, but this show provides so much more than the plethora of same old darkness that takes way too long to tell a story. Not that they care- thought they should, but Amazon shot them selves in the ass on this one. I hope it stings. I love this show. I loved the animated series, and this ‘live’ version has been as good and better. Peter Serafinowicz IS The Tick and Griffin Newman IS Arthur. I thought all of the characters have made this show work very well. I hope Ben and his compatriots can make that mighty leap and land on a studio that will give it the support and resources to run for many more seasons.
I didn’t realize there would be no season 3, and I am very disappointed. I just finished watching season 1 and 2 for the second time to re-familiarize myself with the characters and plot line. This show is incredibly written and acted. I am shocked at how well the casting was done; every actor nails it in this show. It’s funny but maintains a very rare sense of sweetness and innocence. Very rare and I am shocked it’s not renewed. I am hoping another network is smart enough to pick it up.
I can not believe they canceled The Tick!! I hope they can find a new home for the show!! Hopefully Netflix will pick it up!! It is just too great a series not to get renewed for many more seasons!
My husband and I LOVE this show! It is one of the best shows we’ve seen in years! Witty, surprising, charming, hilarious and always inspires us to search for our Destiny! Please, please, please make more shows. We will watch it anywhere we can find it. We love “The Tick (and Arthur, Dot, Danger Boat, Overkill, Walter, Agent Commander Rathbone, Lobstercules & the babies, Kevin & the whole gang; and Rick & Morty-no, oops, another wonderful show-lol)!
Just watched both seasons on Amazon Prime this weekend and disappointed to learn that’s all there is. Read the comics back in the 90s and feel this adaptation best captured the spirit of the comics. Such potential cut short – deserves more seasons. Maniacally funny.
