Tommy won’t be back on patrol next season. CBS just announced that the network has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering a second season for the 2020-21 broadcast season.
The Tommy series revolves around a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for Los Angeles. Abigail “Tommy” Thomas (Edie Falco) uses unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to keep social, political, and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland. The CBS drama also stars Michael Chernus, Adelaide Clemens, Thomas Sadoski, Russell G. Jones, Olivia Lucy Phillip, Joseph Lyle Taylor, and Vladimir Caamaño.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Tommy averages a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.85 million viewers. The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise as the drama is the network’s lowest-rated scripted series.
The 12th and final installment of Tommy airs tomorrow night.
What do you think? Do you watch Tommy? Would you have watched season two on CBS?
Got hooked on this show. Hope CBS reconsiders.
I stopped watching tv since Trump became President. Tommy, Edie Falco made me watch it again. CBS what is wrong with you?first decent show with good writers and cast and you cancel it???!!!! Thanks one of the few things that took my mind off covid 19 and you take it away. I’m in health care. Done watching CBS again until they bring it back!!!!
This is terrible. Edie Falco was, as usual, terrific in this show. She can play any character she is given. A true actress. The cast was also great. Please bring this show back. So unfair.
TOMMY IS one of THEEE BEST shows that CBS has! PLEASE DONT CANCEL! CBS is seriously slipping!
I loved the show. They should have given it more time. One more year.
This was a very good series that I was starting to look forward to viewing each Thursday night. It was just getting started with good acting and the actors just beginning to develop their roles. Is there any way it might be picked up by another network? I would certainly continue as a viewer.
Yes, I would have watched a second season. My husband and I just watched the finale and he looked Tommy up online and saw that it was being canceled. We are very disappointed. We really liked the show. Each week the storyline got better and better. We became drawn into the characters’ lives. Really looking forward to next season. Love Eddie Falco, and the rest of the cast was great, too. Each personality was unique. Not the typical cop show. Great to see a competent, strong woman as the chief of police in a large city. There are very few… Read more »
The story line on Tommy was great and Edie Falco as LA’s police chief was outstanding. Many of us can’t figure out why this show wad canceled. It deserves another chance, with an opportunity to be in the Fall lineup and not waiting for the summer to broadcast it. No wonder it had less than exceptional ratings.
My new favorite show. Storyline not predictable. Loved each character. I am so disappointed it will not be renewed! I don’t think a decision should be made until season 2. Please reconsider.
I really enjoyed this series and I’m disappointed in CBS. I have to say there is a lot of less than desirable shows on TV – this wasn’t one of them.
I really enjoy Tommy. Edie Falco is a great actress and plays strong female characters. My roommate feels the same. We looked forward to the issues Tommy dealt with. Wish you would reconsider cancelling this show.
Yes, I have enjoyed Tommy. It always seems the better quality shows get cancelled and the usual crap keeps on..
So true
Bad time slot but watched every episode and really was into it! On demand really helps with bad time slots! I have given up thinking CBS really cares about putting good shows on the air for discerning adults! With some of the shows they keep renewing it is obvious they are looking to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Sad!
Very disappointed! It is a show that grows on you. Tommy depicted realty: a woman fighting for respect in a mans world. Again, I am very, very disappointed that it will not continue.
Took a couple of episodes, but we really warmed up to “Tommy”. Good writing, characters’ stories were engaging. Sorry to find out it was cancelled.
