In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

I agree with Deb. For this show to have a chance of survival, it needs to be put on a slot different from other shows alike. Sadly, This just cannot compete with the rest.
Put it on after Jimmy Fal. show instead of infomercials.
C’mon NBC! STOP wasting money on shows like this!
Already screwed up with the late night show.
Put double episodes of Law and order SVU instead.
Love the show. Love the cast. Love the storylines. Love the actors.
Enough said about that.
; )
Oh………except I am DARN HAPPY we get 10 more shows!
And please don’t put it on when 24 is on………….duh!!!
I really enjoy the show. The characters are all really likable and engaging. Compared to some other shows that are out there on TV I’d really be surprised/ angry if Trauma didn’t get a second season. But then again – NBC canceled “Kings” which certainly was one of the smartest shows around in a long time.
I guess it’s all about viewers – and that’s fine. the networks have to make money somehow but they should trust their shows a little. give them some time to built up a base.
Good or not, let’s all vote for this, so I (and the rest) can work and continue to be an extra!
I must agree with Demented. At best the network executives are osteo-cephalic. I think they must have to pass an incompetency test to get their jobs. Here are a few tips. 1. Don’t put a new (possibly good) show up against the highest rated series on TV… it’s bound to fail. 2. Don’t run a few shows, then change nights or time! Duh… 3. Let people know the show is on! Again duh! (think Defying Gravity) 4. At least, if you cancel a poplar show, finish the series! John Doe comes to mind. Leaving a cliff hanger, then canceling the… Read more »
What is the deal with network executives anyway?
Do they all have Rectal-Cranium Syndrome?
New shows are rarely ever even given a chance!
They seen to yank them before anyone even knows they are on or they put it up against a popular show like Lost or Chuck and say “Huh, it’s not doing well, let’s cancel it”.
Well Duh people! Some of the most popular shows of all time were rejected or just squeaked by. Look at Gilligans Island. It was rejected three times by the network, then canceled after just three seasons becuase “it didn’t make sense”.
This show sucks. There’s already too many shows alike!
The predominant voters on this site are EXTRAs that want to keep Themeselves employed as EXTRAs. I’m also an extra on a few and want to keep it going, but I refuse to be selfish and lie that this mediocre show is good just to be recasted again.
Are you lying to yourself as well?

Jane. I agree that this show isn’t as good, but for the sake of fellow extras and cast mates, just get on the band wagon and vote yes along with these generic comments from other wanna be actors like myself. what show is this like?? It’s a medical drama, but i fail to see where it’s a carbon copy of anything else that currently airs? and @ last count there were over 24,000 fans on Facebook that love the show. So i don’t know about it being CAST members who want to keep their jobs voting…If you don’t like the show fine…but don’t tarnish the effort of those that love the show with your negativity.
I am sooo happy that Trauma is back (at least temporarily). It’s an awesome show, & that’s saying a lot coming from a pretty picky TV viewer. : ) I can’t wait til the new episodes are on. Please keep this show going – it’s terrific!!! And I can’t wait to see what happens next. Thanks to everyone who helped keep it alive!!!
The Trauma team should keep going the acting is great , the supporting actors from the bay area carl moreno ,derek adams and other actors that support the cast are Great !Keep it going;]
what great news! best new show in ages just was resurrected! how cool is that? now all we have to do is encourage everyone high and low and near and far to tune in. plus, hope comcast has more taste than nbc alone has…..
10 more episodes of TRAUMA makes me happy. this show has gotten better and better. i was a fire/rescue personal for years and loved it. this show has extremely good character development that some of the more “popular” shows could only dream of. the real life traumas on the show are believable and engrossing. i truly hope this show is picked up for a second season.
I love this show. Great acting, and true to life. Provoked alot of real emotions that moved me.
I love the show, but the shows survival depends on 25,000 people. The Nielsen Families. The only way to keep the show is to somehow appeal to them and i don’t know how that can be done. The show is awesome, casting and scripts on point, but the pilot did more harm than good in that it might not have been inclusive enough to draw people in, it was either a love it or hate it reaction. The show HAS consistently gotten better, moreso w/ the production costs lowered and more focus on the characters. I hope the extra 10… Read more »
