This spring, Starz is introducing two half-hour dramas. While Sweetbitter is based on a novel, the Vida TV show is based on the short story, Pour Vida, by Richard Villegas, Jr. Is a half-hour enough time to tell a dramatic story? Will Vida be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
From creator Tanya Saracho, Vida stars Mishel Prada, Melissa Barrera, Ser Anzoategui, Carlos Miranda, Chelsea Rendon, and Maria-Elena Laas. The Starz TV series centers on two estranged Mexican-American sisters who are reunited by tragedy. Despite growing up together on the Eastside of Los Angeles, Emma (Prada) and Lyn (Barrera) could not be any more different from each other. Now a successful businesswoman, Emma returns home from Chicago, while good-time girl Lyn arrives from San Francisco. Soon, they’ll have to face things about their pasts, their mother, and even themselves.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the Vida TV show? Should this Starz TV series be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*6/12/18 update: Starz has renewed Vida for a second season. Details here.
Please continue the series VIDA. it’s been so long since I’ve been this excited about a show. It brings such interesting characters and diversity to an otherwise boring and dull white lineup of show. This is what we need on tv now. Give it plenty of chance to catch fire with more viewers. Keep the storyline vibrant and interesting and true to the culture. The actors are beyond terrific!!
I think the show is great! Hopefully the sisters can turn it around and make the neighborhood great again! Maybe have 2 mean gay investors come in and let the sisters beat them in investing and saving the neighborhood for their mamma.
