Is all well that ends well? TNT has cancelled its Will TV show after just one season of ten episodes. The decision to cancel the young Shakespeare drama series comes on the heels of last night’s Will season one and unintentional TV series finale episode, “Once, Bright Angel.” The first season of Will premiered on TNT on July 10, 2017.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Will: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Will averaged a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 392,000 viewers. It is the lowest rated of the scripted TNT TV shows we’ve been tracking.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Will TV show? Should TNT have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Sound off, in the comments.
This stinks!! Will was awesome!!! Laurie was amazing as Will, and so hot!! Bring it back please, or get it on Netflix!!! So disappointed at the sudden cancellation and leaving us hanging in plot!! So much more you could have done!!!
So very sad there not be a second season of Will
Only to say how extremely disappointed I am that TNT did not properly promote and continue to support one of the most original, well-acted, well-made, written, cast, and on and on. Every aspect of this very entertaining series would truly have been a feather in the cap of ANY NETWORK. TNT has returned it’s network back in the bottom of mediocrity. I can only hope that a more forward thinking network has the ability to pick up and continue this refreshing, original entertainment. It is a very special series.
Poor promotion. I didn’t really hear of it until all of the episodes were finished. I’m not a normal television watcher… Am DERPLY disappointed… FINALLY something with watching and it was cut.
What a shame. As a fan of the real Shakespeare I found the show fun and daring. A little loose and cavalier with the facts and historical content, but fun and good TV nonetheless. Hopefully the money people will realize that period pieces with a background have a place at the table.
I am furious at the cancellation of this fascinating series. The writers and direector used some of the most recent and credible scholarship regarding Shakespeare’s Catholicism and what would have had to be a profound inner conflict and a genius for discretion simply in order to survive in Elizabethan England. Excellent job on the whole of integrating 16th century language with contemporary English. Almost all the characters were well played; the only one I found somewhat forced was the “Alice Burbage” character, but I see why she was necessary to the plot, and a love affair for a brilliant, vital… Read more »
Network executives only think with their wallets. They wouldn’t know a great show or talent if it crawled out of their collective buttocks! They will continue showing dreck to the simple minded masses until WE refuse to watch their networks. The new owners of WGN, Chicago (Sinclair) cancelled the excellent show Underground. Probably because it told the truth about slavery. Boycott the networks boycott their sponsors and let them know why!
I am so upset that not another season the story unfinished. This brought so much joy to my heart to see the life of Shakespeare. I get so much joy reading his work and makes it better to see this show. Completely inspired me!
I am so disappointed that Will is not being renewed. It was so entertaining, the cast was great and it educated me on Shakespeare…something I never though possible. A change of mind here would make my day!
I HATE that they cancelled Will. I absolutely love this show. They have successfully cancelled almost every show that chronicles the olden days. Why can they not allow it to get past the first season? There are so many people that do not hear about the shows until AFTER they have cancelled the show. MAYBE if they advertised better about them and allowed more word of mouth so people can watch it and like it, they will get better ratings. UGH… Another loved show down the drain. 🙁 </3
I’m heartbroken that it has been cancelled. it was one of my favorite shows ever and it was so well done, such a shame that they ended it! it probably would have helped a lot if they put it on Netflix for example since it’s not available on tnt’s website from other countries, so any possible fans from around the world had to watch it illegally on various websites. thus the numbers of viewers aren’t close to the accurate ones and it was seen as unsuccessful. I really really hope they change their minds.
EXACTLY!!! I was just saying that if they allowed a second season, gave it a chance to be advertised better and word of mouth used properly, and yes netflix or something like that utilized, the viewers would have been counted accurately. So many of my favorite shows have been cancelled after 1 season bc of this!
Makes me sad:( was really looking forward to it continuing. I enjoyed it and want more!!!
I’m so incredibly disappointed! I loved this show. The cast was wonderful and the show was very well written. I will miss it.
Liked the stories, liked the characters, bright costumes and scenery
Sorry to See it end. Went out on a high note. Thought it was well doe, interesting characters
What an AMAZING series! I simply loved it! sorry to see it cancelled!
