Is all well that ends well? TNT has cancelled its Will TV show after just one season of ten episodes. The decision to cancel the young Shakespeare drama series comes on the heels of last night’s Will season one and unintentional TV series finale episode, “Once, Bright Angel.” The first season of Will premiered on TNT on July 10, 2017.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Will: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Will averaged a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 392,000 viewers. It is the lowest rated of the scripted TNT TV shows we’ve been tracking.
Deadline has confirmed the Will TV series cancellation. You can binge-watch the enter first and only season of Will on the TNT website.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Will TV show? Should TNT have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Sound off, in the comments.
This is awful! Please bring back or another network pickup. Best summer tv show!! Awesome cast and storyline. Love the time period with current music. Everybody can use some Shakespearism in their life!!
This was one of my favorite series to come home from work and watch. I’m very sad to see it cancelled and do not agree with the decision one bit.
I’m so disappointed in the cancellation of Will!!! I look forward to season 2. It was a brilliant show! I watched and rewatched the first season more than once! What a mistake by executives! I loved this show and dramatic historical adaptations!
Noooooooo!!!! I love historical fiction, on tv, in movies, and books! I anxiously awaited every episode of season one. Perhaps Netflix or Hulu could pick it up??? Fingers crossed!
Will should not have been cancelled. I formed a strong attachment to both Christopher Marlowe and Will. I have been waiting till now for more to come AND NONE HAVE. I believe that TNT made a big mistake of not letting the series continue. If they even partnered with Netflix the show would have been freaking amazing. The show is very enticing and addictive. (I WANT TO SEE MORE!!) Whoever wrote the show should have been given an award for the wittiness, humour, creativity, and all around awesomeness of this show. I want it back on air.
So sad to see no second, third, fourth … season of Will. Shakespeare was a great one, and this program laced history with plot. Viewers actually educated while being entertained, much like Shakespeare’s historical plays. The Bard is replaced by mediocrity.
Why cancel?…..its a beautiful series..characters are portrayed perfectly actors are very good …and that alice and will romance..really got me hooked…
One of the reasons I still have cable was anticipation of season 2 of Will. Once again a short sighted executive (re: Firefly) with no foresight has helped make up my mind.
NO I think this was a big mistake by the network to cancel this show. I found it entertaining and I learned a lot from the show. This show was not only about love affair, but also a lot of history. Things people could learn about the times and struggles of Med eval times. It’a a lot better than some of the shows this network has, like the last ship????
Will was fantastic. Finally a story that told some truth about Shakespeare’s struggles with living in an Elizabethan anti-Catholic society. Wow!! Shakespeare is a hero to Catholics for his attempts to get hopeful messages to Catholics in hiding. More people need to understand more of this story. Will was a little too gruesome for my taste at times but worth sitting through to get the story line. Please bring it back.
The time slot was not a good one. I watched every episode multiple times but either on DVR or On Demand. It was an excellent script, cast, wardrobe, and set with astounding attention to detail. The program should have been given further time to make its mark on viewers and gain a following. I hope TNT reconsiders in time to bring back most of the cast. Very disappointing!
“Lord what fools these mortals be”—
Truer words have never been written…about TNTs decision to cancel this show. In Season Two, the players could have put on Marlowe’s “Faustus”. The Ghost of Richard Burton would thank you…
TNT is going to regret deleting this show it was my favorite by far from any other show I had watched and I most definitely binge watched it and waited for it to come out since I saw the commercials this is the biggest mistake not making a second season it breaks my heart when I first start to get into a show it gets cancelled of course i’m sure the rating s would have went up sooner rather then later
I am just about sick of TNT. Every damn time they have a great show they give it one season and cancel it! I loved Will and am going to miss it. Shame on you TNT!!!!!!!!!!
I binge-watched this show and LOVED it. I’ve been waiting for the next season and am disappointed there won’t be one.
