Last season, Modern Family’s ratings were even better than the year before. Will they continue to grow or could they possibly fall low enough for it to be cancelled? Nah. Still, it’s fun to track the ratings each week.
The fourth season of Modern Family typically airs Wednesday nights at 9pm on the ABC network. Once again, the cast includes Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara, Ty Burrell, Ariel Winter, Sarah Hyland, Rico Rodriguez, and Nolan Gould.
Below are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if Modern Family is going to be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season (not that it seems to be in any real danger).

Year-to-year, the season premiere of Modern Family was down by 10% in the demo (vs a 6.1 rating) and down by 1% in viewers (vs 9.74 million). However, this was the best demo since February and the best viewership since last September.
Reference point: The 2011-12 season averaged a 5.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.09 million viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
