There won’t be a second act for Ruby Red. Netflix has cancelled the AJ and the Queen TV series after one season of 10 episodes.
AJ and the Queen stars RuPaul Charles, Izzy G., Michael-Leon Wooley, Josh Segarra, Katerina Tannenbaum, and Tia Carrere. In the story, Ruby Red (Charles) is a bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck drag queen. She travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990’s R/V with her unlikely sidekick AJ (G.), a recently orphaned, tough-talking and scrappy 11-year-old stowaway. As the two misfits — one tall and one small — travel from city to city, Ruby’s message of love and acceptance winds up touching people and changing their lives for the better.
The series was created by Charles and Michael Patrick King, a creator on shows like 2 Broke Girls and The Comeback. The first season of AJ and the Queen was released on January 10th of this year.
Charles broke the news that the show has been cancelled. On Twitter, he wrote, “End of the road for “AJ and The Queen”. Netflix has decided to not extend our road trip across America. Thank you for all the love & support. We’re so very proud of the work.”

What do you think? Did you watch the AJ and the Queen TV show? Would you have watched season two on Netflix?
Please re-think a second season or maybe take it to another network Amazon prime could be an option!
I loved the show! Lighthearted and fun.
aj and the queen was so inspiring , in really brings joy to my heart ! very beautiful story … its a big booooeeeh for netflix to stop this show ….
My family and I just finished watching first season and we’re so excited to think there would be a second season!!! We are so sad and disappointed to see it is not being renewed! It was a a great show !!! There was definitely enough left unanswered for a Second season! My family would have definitely watched this show for a second season I really hope they change their mind and make another season!!!
I loved AJ and the Queen! It was funny, outrageous and heartwarming all wrapped up together. I’m totally annoyed and sad to see they cancelled it for the second season!
I would’ve loved to see a season two! Disappointing
OMG WHAT I LITERALLY JUST FINISHED IT AND WAS LEFT SHOCKED THAT IT WAS THE END!! It’s not even just Netflix even though this show has a good bunch of people who watch it some people can’t see a show with potential. Why watch Stranger things when you can watch something as real, funny, emotional, and heartwarming as this. I really hope that more watch it so that one day Season two happens and we get a proper end to the show
Just finished season 1 and heart broken to see there wont be a 2nd. Not fair netflix!!
Stop playing with my emotions Netflix. Bring it back for 2 more seasons at least! Love the humour, the chemistry between the characters…
I’m bummed there won’t be a second season! Great show! Boo to Netflix for canceling!
I do not understand why Netflix cancel a lot of good shows and leave the ones that do not make sense. This show is realistic. Give the show a chance geesh Netflix. Stick to something for a change. These one season series is not worth the money. There are many shows on Netflix that are repetitive, it’s good to see something different, with humor and fun, instead of all these cult, violent, sexual, and slasher shows and movies.
Im disappointed….boo hiss to Netflix!
I freaking agree, one hit shows is disappointing.
This is a wonderful show and should not have been cancelled by Netflix. I watch a lot of network TV and had seen no previews, trailers or a press tour for the show. I just stumbled upon it on Netflix. I binge watched all ten episodes. It should definitely be given a second chance with more of a press tour for the 2nd season with Rupaul, Izzy G. and Michael-Leon Wooley. Their chemistry alone would draw people in to watch it. If Netflix is not going to change their minds, then there should be another network or streaming service that… Read more »
