Eileen’s pursuit of the truth won’t continue into the 2023-24 network season. ABC has cancelled Alaska Daily, so there won’t be a second season.
A drama series, the Alaska Daily TV show stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park, and Craig Frank. Eileen Fitzgerald (Swank) is an award-winning investigative journalist and high-powered newspaper reporter in New York. Her reporting methods and abrasive personality are called into question after a high-profile story blows up in her face, and Eileen loses her job. Her former mentor, Stanley Cornik (Perry), approaches her about making a big move, and she goes to work for a struggling downsized Anchorage newspaper, the Daily Alaskan. Grudgingly, Eileen teams up with a young local reporter named Roz Friendly (Dove). Together, they begin investigating the murders of a group of indigenous women. Eileen is on a journey to find personal and professional redemption in a new locale, across the country, and in a very different world.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Alaska Daily averaged a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It was one of ABC’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and a middle-of-the-road performer in total viewers, when compared to other shows on the network.
The show nearly doubled its viewership in the live+7 day ratings, but that was apparently not good enough to secure a second-season renewal.
The first season of 11 episodes finished airing on March 30th.

Finally a show about Indians and what has been happening to them and it is taken off the air. I couldn’t wait until the next season of it. Something is wrong here???? And with Hillary Swank, too!
I loved this show. Hilary Swank is great. Loved the plot line re: missing indigenous women – so little is really said about that today.
My husband and I really loved an enjoyed the show. This show had great actors, and wonderful story lines it felt real. It was a pleasure to watch.

I loved Alaska Daily-it was a quality series and the plot had depth you just don’t see in a lot of shows.
Hopefully someone else will pick the show up.
I am very disappointed that Alaska Daily was not renewed. I loved the show. It was a show that my husband and I would watch together. I often texted with my best friend about the show. I liked the actors, the storylines, the fact that it takes place in Alaska, and everything about it. I also liked the fact that it was something different than the normal programming. I do not think the show was given a fair chance.
Hope another network will pick up this well written well acted and powerful storyline show which made this a rare gem in the mostly tv wasteland of repetitive themes, reality tv and senseless violence.
Liked it better than all the other trash on networks. Someone pick it up, please.

I was extremely disappointed with your decision to cancel Alaska Daily. Storyline, acting, and need for this type of programming makes it difficult to understand you

Very surprised ABC actually had this good of a show in the first place. Normally they seem to run nothing but mindless nothing burgers of shows. Totally disappointing.
I can’t believe it. One of the best shows canceled. I looked forward to watching Alaskan Daily. Very disappointed with ABC. This was a show I made sure to have time to watch.
Are you kidding ABC? Alaskan Daily is canceled too??? This is another good show you are pulling the plug on. A show about real life for indigenous women, really? How about pulling the plug on the mind numbing Bachelor and Bachelorette shows?
I agree, it seems like they always cancel the good show and then keep on trash that no one likes
This was a type of show we have never had on. Something new, interesting, and real. Too many shows are similar now and some have become boring.
