Renée Elise Goldsberry leaves Hamilton; joins Altered Carbon TV series at Netflix (Krista Kennell / Shutterstock.com).

Hamilton’s Renée Elise Goldsberry, who plays Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway smash-hit, will depart the production this fall, to join the cast of the Altered Carbon TV show at Netflix, EW reports. A sci-fi drama set in the 25th century, Altered Carbon features a future in which there is no more death, because souls can be digitally transferred to new bodies.

Goldsberry, who will play revolutionary leader Quellcrist Falconer, joins Joel Kinnaman who was previously cast as Takeshi Kovacs. Based on Richard Morgan’s 2002 cyberpunk novel, the Altered Carbon TV series is written and executive produced by Laeta Kalogridis. Miguel Sapochnik is directing the pilot episode.
