How goes hired gun Takeshi Kovacs’ investigation during the first season of the Altered Carbon TV show on Netflix? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether TV shows are cancelled or renewed. Netflix and other streaming platforms, however, collect their own data. If you’ve been watching this TV series, we’d love to know how you feel about the Altered Carbon season one episodes. We invite you to rate them for us here.
A Netflix sci-fi drama based on the Richard K. Morgan cyberpunk novel, Altered Carbon stars stars Joel Kinnaman, Renée Elise Goldsberry, James Purefoy, Kristin Lehman, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Leonardo Nam, Hayley Law, Chris Conner, Ato Essandoh, and Trieu Tran. Recurring in season one are Will Yun Lee, Marlene Forte, Byron Mann, Tamara Taylor, Adam Busch, Olga Fonda, and Hiro Kanagawa.
The story unfolds in the 24th Century, when death is far from inevitable. When 22nd Century rebel Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman) returns to life in the future, he tries to track down a killer, by interviewing the victims. Because human beings can now download their consciousnesses and spin them up into another body (i.e. “sleeve”), death is no longer final. Enter the wealthy Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), who has lived this way for hundreds of years — at least until someone murdered him and destroyed his cortical stack.
What do you think? Which season one episodes of the Altered Carbon TV series do you rate as wonderful, terrible, or somewhere between? Should Netflix cancel or renew Altered Carbon for a second season? Don’t forget to vote, and share your thoughts, below.
Chilling and creepy but so Nostalgic like Bladerunner from 1982! Yes I like it and I hope I see more like this in the future!
We binge-watched all 10 episodes this past weekend. What a rush! I had read the novel and was thrilled with the high quality production values, directing and acting that brought the book to life. My husband, who had not read the book, also enjoyed it immensely. Yes, let’s do all 3 Kovacs books. Better yet, Richard K. Morgan please write some more! (I’m about to start #3)
I’ve (just about binge watched) the 10 episodes and loved them all. JK was excellent, as was WYLee- all the characters. What made it for me was the quality and true-to-the-story construction/direction (all the Directors). I have read all the R. Morgan books, am a BIG fan, and I hope Netflix will do them all (maybe not Market Forces) but all the Kovacs epics AND 13 (Black Man).
So far I have watched episode 1 and I am iffy if I will watch the entire series. I guess I will watch episode 2 and make my decision then. It is really far out as life in the 2400s may be, but for me at least, seeing the second episode will help me decide. There is a lot to watch on Netflix and each episode is an hour.
