The cunning Cody crime family is back in the third season of the Animal Kingdom TV show on TNT. Will viewers return? Although its demo ratings leave this TV series among the cable network’s lower ranked originals, last year, it still drew a pretty good sized audience for Turner’s drama outlet. How long will that suffice? Will Animal Kingdom be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. **Status update below.
A TNT crime drama, Animal Kingdom stars Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Finn Cole, Molly Gordon, and Carolina Guerra. Denis Leary joins the main cast in season three as Billy, Deran’s (Weary) drifter dad, who claims he has returned to atone for past sins. Last season closed with Baz (Speedman) framing Smurf (Barkin) for murder, then getting shot as he fled for Mexico. The third season of Animal Kingdom kicks off with Smurf in jail and grandson J (Cole) now in charge of the family business. While the desire for control threatens to splinter the Cody men, they will have to unite to fend off emerging external threats.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The second season of Animal Kingdom on TNT averaged a 0.38 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and 1.171 million viewers.

Animal Kingdom is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The last episode of season 3 was incredible. I don’t generally watch crime shows but this is as good as “Breaking Bad!” Please have a season 4!

I think Animal Kingdom could be higher rated than The Sopranos. I think some of the odd , almost posing , done during the excessive nude scenes is probably a turn off for some viewers. I also think that they physical mannerisms displayed by Smurf are too much. I mean they have Ellen Barkin trying to appear TOO HARD. And it is very clear that she is acting.
