After a three-year absence, the Blood & Treasure series is returning for a second season. Unfortunately for CBS viewers, the drama isn’t coming back to the network.
An action-adventure series, the Blood & Treasure TV show stars Matt Barr, Sofia Pernas, Oded Fehr, Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Alicia Coppola, and Mark Gagliardi. The story centers on an antiquities expert named Danny McNamara (Matt Barr) and art thief Lexi Vaziri (Pernas) who join forces to trap a terrorist. As Danny and Lexi travel the world, hot on the tail of their target, they become embroiled in an ancient conflict.
The show premiered in May 2019 and the first season ran for 13 episodes. It was a middle-of-the-road performer for CBS and averaged a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.65 million viewers.
The series was renewed for a second season in June 2019 and Paget Brewster was cast in the new season in January 2020. Production was underway on new episodes but had to be shut down due to the pandemic in March. The series was cleared to resume filming in September 2020 and was supposed to return to CBS for the 2021-22 season.
That didn’t happen and now, it’s been reported that season two of Blood & Treasure is moving to Paramount+ as an exclusive. A reason for the change hasn’t been revealed but one might guess that the execs feel too much time has passed between seasons for a network return. Subscribers of the streaming service can already catch up.
It also doesn’t help that a third season renewal looks unlikely. The players’ contracts surely lapsed long ago and Barr has been cast in the lead role of Walker: Independence, the recently ordered prequel series to Walker on The CW.
The second season of 13 episodes of Blood & Treasure launches on July 17th on the Paramount+ streaming service.
What do you think? Do you remember watching the Blood & Treasure Tv series on CBS in 2019? Does it bother you that season two is going to be a Paramount+ exclusive?
I was a fan of the old Star Trek. I did not give a damn that the rebooted Trek was streaming only. There is nothing for me in the new crap. However I really liked the 1st season of Blood and Treasure and was looking forward to the 2nd. NOW I find out that the 2nd season is going to be streamed only.
It is par for the course. CBS and Paramount can’t do anything right!
Yes, i loved the first season.
Yes i am very bothered by being forced into buying a subscription service. I don’t want that and I will simply have to miss the rest of the episodes.
I think it is a crappy move to push people into streaming services. I pay for cable by choice.
I will not be forced to pay for another service that will keep jacking up prices so you can see the stuff they tease you with. I object and will not pay.
I think it is a pretty good show. Paramount+ has hardly anything good to watch and when they do they cancel it. That really stinks when customers pay high dollar to subscribe and watch nothing!
Blood & Treasure is a superb, fun and exciting series. I know there was the break in production, but fans will surely come back and the prospect of making this permanent was killed by putting this on Paramount+. It really needs to come back to CBS. This is programming that would help the network’s ratings. I guess this decision was made by the same person that cancelled Magnum P.I. I don’t get it.
As with Evil and Seal Team I have unfortunately seen my last episode of Blood and Treasure………I will never pay to watch shows that were available for free over the air and now the greedy network execs think they can lead the sheep to streaming for profit..
I loved Blood and Treasure! I was eagerly waiting for the next season on CBS. I can’t believe that they are sending it over to Paramount + exclusively. That really sucks. I bought the first season so now I ha e to get the streaming service? I don’t think so! Please bring it back to CBS!
I loved it! Can’t wait to see S2
For all those looking to remind themselves of of the show S1 is on Paramount +
I liked it, it was ok, but not enough to subscribe to P+ to watch a year of it. Got Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Disney +, and Amazon Prime. Gonna keep it at that. Cant subscribe to every streaming service out there. If shows are that good, eventually they will make it over to one of the services I listed above.
I rather enjoyed the first season. It didn’t take itself too seriously, which was part of what made it enjoyable.
Been eagerly anticipating return of Blood & Treasure to CBS, but see it will stream on Paramount+ instead. So sick of line ups on regular tv… reality BS. Why are good series always cancelled, leaving behind BS tv?
It sucks all the shows moving to streaming so you have to pay to watch them
I was looking forward to season two regardless of how much time has elapsed.
Unfortunate timing all around…. I watched the first season, and it was alright. Certainly good enough for a renewal, but COVID got in the way of that being done properly. Now with a three year gap, I can barely remember anything about the show (aging Devil memory being what it is these days).
So I’ll probably watch it out of boredom, since there’s not a whole Hell of a lot on in the summer…..but the momentum’s gone, and as the article says…. it’s all but certain there won’t be a season 3
I guess I won’t be watching because I don’t subscribe. And then they wonder why their shows have low ratings. Oh well.
I watched it, and enjoyed it for the most part. My only complaint is that it had way too many episodes.
