After a three-year absence, the Blood & Treasure series is returning for a second season. Unfortunately for CBS viewers, the drama isn’t coming back to the network.
An action-adventure series, the Blood & Treasure TV show stars Matt Barr, Sofia Pernas, Oded Fehr, Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Alicia Coppola, and Mark Gagliardi. The story centers on an antiquities expert named Danny McNamara (Matt Barr) and art thief Lexi Vaziri (Pernas) who join forces to trap a terrorist. As Danny and Lexi travel the world, hot on the tail of their target, they become embroiled in an ancient conflict.
The show premiered in May 2019 and the first season ran for 13 episodes. It was a middle-of-the-road performer for CBS and averaged a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.65 million viewers.
The series was renewed for a second season in June 2019 and Paget Brewster was cast in the new season in January 2020. Production was underway on new episodes but had to be shut down due to the pandemic in March. The series was cleared to resume filming in September 2020 and was supposed to return to CBS for the 2021-22 season.
That didn’t happen and now, it’s been reported that season two of Blood & Treasure is moving to Paramount+ as an exclusive. A reason for the change hasn’t been revealed but one might guess that the execs feel too much time has passed between seasons for a network return. Subscribers of the streaming service can already catch up.
It also doesn’t help that a third season renewal looks unlikely. The players’ contracts surely lapsed long ago and Barr has been cast in the lead role of Walker: Independence, the recently ordered prequel series to Walker on The CW.
The second season of 13 episodes of Blood & Treasure launches on July 17th on the Paramount+ streaming service.

Love this show – borrowed Season 1 on DVD from library. Disappointed that it’s moved to Paramount+ because I can’t get that here in Canada
I love this show and its cast so much! It takes me around the world, it has mystery, and treasure hunting, AND it’s family friendly. Please, please renew it for season 3!
Leave the show on cbs and stop putting everything on paramount plus it’s getting really annoying.

Not fair that Blood and Treasure moved to paramount plus I rent and do not get that PLEASE bring back to regular TV if not channel 2 then another network.
I love Blood and Treasures, and was excited it was back. Now I can watch episode 1 and that is all. PLEASE bring it back to regular TV.
Really loved the series blood and treasure season one. Was hoping so much it would come back to regular TV. We are really disappointed that it will not be on regular TV. Please bring it back to regular TV and continue it for a season three and four and so on. Thank you so much for your time. We are very much hope you will return this series to regular TV. I really liked Blood and Treasure and was happy to see it on the channel 2 network last week but now since it’s only going to be on streaming I won’t be watching it.
I absolutely Love Blood & Treasure. I actually feel more than a little put out that I had to go looking for it. Fortunately I do subscribe to Paramount Plus, but I think a better home for it would be Disney. It reminds me of the National Treasure Franchise.
I truly hope that is is renewed for another season and that they are just not simply burning off episodes
I just don’t like it when a network shows 1 episode of a show Blood and Treasure on CBS I was happy to see it back and then a slap in the face I find out that it’s moving to Paramount + as it is now all I see on TV are repeats and reality shows so when you see blood and treasure your looking forward to watching it shame on you cbs as a Canadian we don’t have that network boo to all of you executives at cbs
I don’t like it when a network shows one or two episodes of a series and then you have to switch to a streaming service! This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. Love the show but not falling for this tactic.
My brother called to let me know that a new episode of this show was on last Friday night in the time slot where Magnum PI had been showing. I was excited to hear this. Now we can’t find it in the TV Guide, and in doing further research, am disappointed to find that it’s being moved to Paramount +. Bummer!, I’m not going to subscribe to Paramount + just to get it either. Boo Hiss!!!! And I agree with Carol, as we were avid fans of Seal Team too!
I cannot believe that CBS has cancelled Blood and Treasure. I loved this show and will not subscribe to Paramount + just to get it. They did this with Seal Team also. Who in the world makes these decisions. With next to nothing other than these two shows Paramount + does not have enough for me to pay the price for just these two shows.
About Blood and Treasure, I was so glad to see it on CBS and am deeply disappointed that it will not air on a “regular” channel. I am pinching pennies right now snd I will not follow to Paramount +. I really liked this show.
I really enjoyed the first season and was looking forward to Season 2. Disappointed that it was moved to Paramount+. This his happening for so many series and seems to be a money grabber. I pay for cable and so many shows are being moved to subscription services. Not sure what to do except maybe wait for all episodes to be done and do a week free trial of Paramount+ and binge watch.
