Despite airing on Friday nights, the Blue Bloods remained one of CBS’ most-watched TV shows last season. Will viewers continue to tune in for season 12? Would they keep coming back each week if Tom Selleck chose to leave? Will Blue Bloods be cancelled or renewed for season 13? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
A police family drama series, the Blue Bloods TV show stars Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Vanessa Ray, and Sami Gayle with Abigail Hawk, Gregory Jbara, Robert Clohessy, Steven Schirripa, Andrew Terraciano, Tony Terraciano, Lauren Patten, Rosyln Ruff, Luis Antonio Ramos, Callie Thorne, Dylan Walsh, and Jennifer Ikeda in recurring roles. The show revolves around the Reagans, a multi-generational family of New York City cops that’s dedicated to law enforcement. Patriarch Frank Reagan (Selleck) is the New York Police Commissioner and runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family. His unapologetically bold father, Henry (Cariou), previously served a stint as Chief. A source of pride and concern for Frank is his eldest son, Danny (Wahlberg), a seasoned detective, family man, an Iraq War vet. Danny sometimes uses dubious tactics to solve cases with his partner, Detective Maria Baez (Ramirez). Frank’s daughter, Erin (Moynahan), is a New York Assistant District Attorney who is also a single parent to her daughter Nicky (Gayle). Frank’s youngest is Jamie (Estes), a Harvard Law graduate and the family’s “golden boy.” He passed on a lucrative future in law and follows in the family footsteps as a cop. Eddie Janko (Ray) is Jamie’s wife and a fellow officer.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
5/7 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: Season 11 of Blue Bloods on CBS averaged a 0.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.45 million viewers.
Note: These are the final national ratings, including all live+same day viewing and DVR playback (through 3:00 AM). Early fast affiliate ratings (estimates) are indicated with an “*”. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. Though other economic factors are involved, the higher-rated shows usually get renewed and the lower-rated ones get cancelled.
What do you think? Do you like the Blue Bloods TV series on CBS? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a 13th season?
*4/27/22 update: Blue Bloods has been renewed for a 13th season on CBS.
Believe Blue Bloods should be renewed for the upcoming 13th season and beyond because I fill the show the best cop show that’s on television to date!!!
Our favorite TV drama. ONLY problem and easily solved is having 3-4 stories goin on within each episode. Given commercial time, each “story” only gets 12″ at most (less if you take out the dinner portion) FAR better to have 1 or 2 stories per episode rotating among the main characters. Magnum PI & various NCIS shows also have nearly as large casts but focus on ONE story per episode. I.E. for example, an episode just featuring 2 stories (Selleck, either son, ‘new’ grandson’, “Pop” and/or daughter so they can be fully fleshed out & made even better. A win-win… Read more »
Our favorite drama on TV – ranks as an all-time best with Rockford Files, the original Magnum PI & NCIS. Selleck is the “sell” – pun intended. I know my fellow veterans follow him as he’s one of only a half dozen Hollywood stars who is currently on the screen AND is a real life veteran. (along with Eastwood, Sajak, Drew Carey et al) Good cast too – you can believe it is a ‘family’! AND we recall “Pop” from his repeat performances on Murder She Wrote. The writers just need to go over plots with real NYC police a… Read more »
Blue Bloods fiday night renewed for season 13
He vist totes les temporades (1-11) i varies vegades. M’encanta. Capitols de quasi 1 hora, explican de 2 a 3 historias per capitol de manera quasi perfecte. Inressants, ben estructurades i molt ben resoltes.
Please, please do not cancel!!!!!!!!! My favorite show
Please do NOT Cancel!
Love Blue Blood , please don’t cancel it
Oct 22,21 show was back to number 1 for me. This was a well written show. The week before was not very good. Please keep this week’s format and structure in future episodes.
If Tom Selleck(Frank) left the show to disappear into oblivion, or was killed off which would be worse, i just could not find myself to continue watching Blue Bloods. But if Tom left the Show to investigate the disappearance of his longtime friend and law enforcement officier: Jessie Stone, I would continue to watch Blue Bloods; especially if frank would continue to check-in with his Reagan family occassionally(and maybe some quick visits now and then.) Maybe danny and jamie, henry, will, or erin could venture out to check on their father now and then too. There could be any number… Read more »
But now that i have had some time to think about it, after a good Jessie Stone investigation (maybe just a minni-series,) then i hope i could say goodbye. Sad, but it would be the right thing to do. Some Reagans need to stay in NY to see these crises out! I’m glad frank would be blessed to retire, and be able to walk away from the nightmares being handed out and filtered down from the present administrations.
We love Blue Bloods! Great cast and it’s just a good TV show! Like our other few favorites, we DVR it and watch it later when we have time….with no commercials.
Blue Bloods is one of the few weekly shoes we tune into. Content and acting is above and beyond any other show on these days!!
I’ll watch Blue Bloods as long as CBS chooses to air it. I’m a big fan.
I love Blue Bloods and hope it never goes away. Eachc actor and actress is a star in their own right.
