The (finally) judgment is in. NBC has officially cancelled Bluff City Law after only one season and 10 episodes.
The legal drama stars Caitlin McGee as Sydney Strait, a brilliant lawyer who joins her estranged father at his law firm after her mother passes away. The cast also includes Jimmy Smits, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson.
The first season of Bluff City Law averaged a 0.56 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.66 million viewers. That makes Bluff City Law one of NBC‘s lower-rated series for the 2019-20 season.
The writing seemed to be on the wall when the network opted not to order any additional installments of the low-rated Monday night series beyond the initial 10 episode order. However, the network insisted that the show was still in the running for a 2020-21 renewal. The last episode aired on November 25, 2019.
Of NBC’s new crop of scripted series for 2019-20, only Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist was renewed for a second season. In addition to Bluff City Law, freshman series Indebted, Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, Sunnyside, and Perfect Harmony have all been cancelled.
What do you think? Did you watch Bluff City Law on NBC? Would you have watched a second season of this drama series?
We loved this show and would love to see a second season. In a world focused on what goes wrong, this series gave us something to look forward to and to prove not everything is bad.
LOVED this show!! Still hoping another network picks it up!! Interesting characters, intriguing relationships & good, solid acting. Loved it being set elsewhere, that was a fun backdrop! Interesting & current storylines. PLEASE FILM A SEASON 2, someone!
My husband and I loved this show, we watched every episode was really hoping that it would be renewed
We absolutely loved every episode. Fantastic cast and stories. Bring it back!
Would definitely of watched another season. So sick of networks only making one series.
I would definitely watch Bluff City Law. It was a show I really enjoyed.
I so enjoyed this show. Whenever a well acted serious drama comes on the air it’s such a joy. Time slot makes a huge difference & this is one show that deserved a chance. Hoping another network picks it up. I will definitely be searching.
Great setting, good acting but the relentless “woke” writing based 100% on social “justice” themes was predictable and extremely boring. Most of us are drawn to entertainment that allows us escape the real world not a non-stop reminder of just how shallow our society full of perpetual victims have been trained to think.
We really enjoyed Bluff City Law. The actors were fun! Maybe move it to another channel? Please?
Really liked the show, wish they would bring back to prime time television.
Loved it!
I would’ve certainly watched a series 2 and extremely disappointed to think there isn’t another one. I don’t think NBN has made the right call here. There’s no sex, violence, or swearing just a lot of wisdom.
I really enjoyed this show. I was hoping for a season 2. It was so much better than some of the ridiculous so called comedies and so much more uplifting than most of the dramas on tv.
I hated reading season 2 was cancelled Give it a chance to pick up more viewers, especially with people at home catching up on TV series like Hulu and Netflix.
I definitely was looking forward to a season 2 of Bluffs City Law. I just read it was cacnelled. sad (-:
this show was set to fail from the beginning . Do you know anybody that watches network TV at 10pm on a Monday night if it’s not football? If they had wanted to make this the show another season they could have given it a more respectful time slot. The irony is if they had kept it it would no doubt be the most relevant show on tv to our current world dealing with covid and all the social , health and economic injustices it exposed that America needs to deal with . it would be a number one hit… Read more »
I’m so mad . I loved this show.
