Season four of When Calls the Heart airs its finale tonight — Sunday, April 23rd. But should there be a fifth season? What do you think? Should Hallmark Channel cancel or renew the TV series?
The historical drama follows Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher whose life is turned upside down when she moves to a small, coal mining town. The cast also includes Daniel Lissing, Lori Loughlin, Chelah Horsdal, Mitchell Kummen, Gracyn Shinyei, and Martin Cummins.
When Calls the Heart is a solid performer for Hallmark Channel. Ratings for season four are up from season three, with an average rating of 0.28 in the 18-49 demo and 2.41 million viewers so far. For comparison, season three averaged a .24 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.06 million viewers.
It seems like a fifth season renewal should be a slam dunk but there’s been no announcement yet. Once again, the “Hearties” are having to be patient.

I think this series has the potential to run a series long as Gunsmoke given the many characters, quality of the storylines, values expressed, and wonderful performances of the actors. YES bring this series back for many Moreno seasons to come!!
ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY YES! This is one of the best shows since Little House on the Prairie. Beautiful story lines that captivates the viewers both young and old. Please don’t hesitate to renew this wonderful show.
Please bring the show back. It can’t end like that for Jack and Elizabeth. The town is just now growing for each character. It is a pure Family show.
WCTH just keeps getting better and better!!!! My husband knew all about me loving the show but now he’s watching each episode with me. I can’t wait for Season 5! So many of my family members are catching up now on Netflix after hearing about the show from me too! We need wholesome TV like WCTH to balance out all the other shows we watch. Great life lessons are taught in each episode. Caring for others, love thy neighbor, help others etc. etc. In today’s crazy world, it’s nice to have a show to help ground us.
