It looks like Chad is moving to California. The new TBS comedy series has been awarded a lucrative tax incentive to move second season production from Vancouver to California.
A single-camera comedy, the Chad TV show is created by writer/executive producer and showrunner Nasim Pedrad. The Iranian-American actress also stars in the title role. Co-stars include Ella Mika, Saba Homayoon, Paul Chahidi, Jake Ryan, and Alexa Loo. The story follows a 14-year-old pubescent Persian boy named Chad (Pedrad) as he navigates his first year of high school. His mission, like many high schoolers, is to become popular. Chad’s friendships and sanity are pushed to the limits as he uses every tactic at his disposal to befriend the cool kids — while enduring the new dating life of his mother, Naz (Homayoon), and reconciling with his cultural identity.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of Chad averages a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 681,000 viewers.
While the comedy series hasn’t been officially renewed for a second season, it seems unlikely that the production company would pass up $3.6 million in tax incentives from the California Film Commission. Season two of HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant was also awarded tax incentives to move production from New York to California.
Between the two programs, they are expected to generate $58.3 million in qualified below-the-line spending. Over 117 filming days, the comedy series are expected to employ 442 crew, 180 cast, and 1,980 background actors or stand-ins.
What do you think? Have you enjoyed watching the Chad TV series? Will you be tuning in for the second season of this TBS show if it’s renewed?
This show with the lead actress is only going to make fun of some of our gender confused youth. The behavior of Chad toward his family is really sad and disrespectful. His desires are shallow, superficial and downright pitiful. Is this a good example for our teenagers?? I would not permit my children and/or grandchildren to watch this at all. I vote to CANCEL it period. Having a 37 year old woman portrayed as a 14 year old boy is disgusting. Some call this show a parody. I can not even support that reference. CANCEL it !!!
This was an entertaining show. Something different that makes U think about certain people’s high school experience. Usually female comics try so hard to be funny and people fake laugh. Now 1 tries to be funny and people hate it, interesting. I do enjoy the characters narcissism, reminds me of kids when I was in high school.
Garbage is too good a,description for this show.
What a waste of air time…straight garbage!
It’s not possible for television to be worse than this. This is the bottom of the bottom.
Chad has been in public school and should know how to act by the time he is a freshman.
It’s very likely Chad has Asperger’s Syndrome or some form of autism.
This is possibly one of the worst shows ive ever seen, are we supposed to identify with the character (who is horrible) it is mean-spirited, cringy and just plain BAD…
I am both intrigued and confused (aggravated?) by Chad. Will reserve final-ish judgment after a few more episodes.
Seriously hope they cancel this soon. Who even thought it was a good idea to put this on or that anyone would want to see this?
Nothing could make me watch that awful show, i can’t stand the commercial!
This show is terrible.
I hope they cancel it
I’m not sure if Chad is a special needs teenager or just a very strange one. Either way this was one of the least funny, cringy (a description many are using for this mess) waste of time since Kat. The politicians might as well waste tax dollars on it as well.
I watched it. I tried to like it. Don’t repeat my mistakes.
That this is renewed when plenty of better, funnier shows haven’t even made it through a full season is beyond me.
Chad is pitifully bad, embarrassing and cringy.. It has no business being renewed, it should have been canceled before the 1st season ended.
