NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.

I liked CHASE alot & watched it every week. The female lead was really good. The writers would have needed to broaden the script & developed the individual characters more as Hill Street , Sopranoes & the Good Wife did. I could see the end coming if all they did was chase people. Viewers like to identify with the characters . The writers needed to go deeper with each character to develop the audience interest.
They needed to develop a storyline with incidents related to each star.
I liked the show from the start. Unfortunately, NBC ran it against the New “Hawaii Five-O”. That meant recording “Chase” to my DVR for later viewing. On Monday it would haver been better to replace “Chuck” with it. “Chuck” has Jumped the Shark as far as I’m concerned. I can’t believe they would cancel such a great show. What are they thinking!!! I love all of the cast members and look forward to watching it every week. Whoever is in charge needs to be fired. Minute to Win It needs to be shelved; not Chase. No wonder ABC has better ratings.
I miss Chase. I really enjoy the series. It is too bad they keep moving it around. The fact that it was suppose to be on tonight is disappointing that they chose to show Minute to Win It. Come on NBC, put on CHASE!
Chase is/was a really fun show. NBC, what are you thinking??? Could you at least finish the first season? I guess I won’t be watchingt NBC anymore since Chase was one of the only NBC show that I enjoyed.
I am/was a big fan of Chase. Who wants to watch another stuped game show? NBC really has no idea what it is doing.
I LOVE Chase!!! I’m never watching a mind numbing game show(game shows which often prove to be a flash in the pan with your fickle audience). Strength comes through diversity and a network is risking losing some loyal audience members when they dumb down to game shows and reality tv. I use to watch NBC but the programming has been diluted to a culinary McDonald’s equivalent . Thank heavens I have HBO etc. Smalltime USA and fox has better scripted progamming than the once powerhouse NBC. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chase… It is one of the only shows my husband and I watch together. Last year you canceled Mercy without giving it a fair chance……and now Chase??? WTH!! I mean seriously!!
I only saw a couple episodes but really liked it. It seemed to just vanish. I kept trying to find it again but no luck. They aren’t giving it a chance. Minute To Win It?? Really?? Now there’s a brilliant show.
I look forward to watching Chase every week! There is not a similar show on tv. Chase is different from the CSIs, Law & Order, etc. Put Chase on at 9pm of a night that doesn’t have a big competition for viewers, such as Tuesday.
just bad advertising. I didn’t even know about it till mid season. I think got hooked to it while I was channel surfing because all the other shows had reruns. Another one bites the dust….
The Chase is a great show. There’s always a good story line with a lot of action, drama and emotion, I never missed an episode and there’s still so much going on with the ahow that I want to see what happens. Keep the show on, advertise it more!
One of their major mistakes was being so vocal about having Eddie Cibrian on their show(ie-writing that he was brought back to the show because the viewers liked him), allowing Leann to advertise EVERYTIME she and Eddie went to Dallas to film Eddie’s scenes(ie-On Eddie’s first trip to Dallas film for the show, Leann later tweeted that Eddie looked good naked), not stopping Eddie as he and Leann continued to be so vocal about how proud they were of their homewrecking in that ABC interview, and then allowing Eddie to play out EVERY detail of his private life in the… Read more »
Why bring them out if your not gonna keep the show undercover,the event,& chase its got to be given a chance what’s the use of even watching the new show if your gonna cancel after a couple of showings & just think ya’ll make all of this money just to put new shows against shows that’s been on for years quit competing against other stations & give the shows you canceled a chance to develope until then you’ll cancel harry’s law & the cape next nbc,fox,abc,&cbs set your goals to high that’s why the shows failing not because there not… Read more »
