NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.
What do you think? Will you miss Chase? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

I absolutely fell in love with Chase. I really hope they change their minds about cancelling especially since they haven’t even given it a fair chance. Love that it takes place right here on Houston tx . Love Annie and the whole team really am hoping I get to see more .
Ugh why does NBC keep cancelling every show I seem to get hooked on??? Chase is great, I am obsessed with watching it and have been since there first episode! This is making me want to steer away from NBC..why get into a series on a network, when chances are they will cancel it on you mid-season or leaving you with a clif hanger! So annoyed with NBC right now.
chase s a great series no wonder cbs is dominet idiots
I agree with Allison and Roger. I’m so sick of shows being cancelled. They don’t give them a chance. I love Chase. Exactly the reason I don’t watch tv as much anymore. You just get into a show and it’s cancelled. And they keep switching the nights or taking them off for weeks at a time and then they are back. It doesn’t pay to get really interested in any show. They have the Christmas holidays, the ball games, summer, etc. and so many commercials. It’s sickening. And now we have to pay because if you don’t have cable you… Read more »
I actually like the show and I hope they give it a chance, that is the problem with network television after a few episodes they cancel the program without giving it a chance to catch on. To be fair they must give chase a chance especially since they moved it to Wednesday without any publicity, I am a fan and did not even know it moved. NBC is last for a reason they promote trash like “the Biggest loser”, “minute to win it” and “Harry’s Law” and not quality programs like Chase.
Awesome show, my wife and I would hate to see it go.
My family and I love this show. Please don’t cancel.
HEY NBC DO YOU NOT SEE THAT ALL OF THESE COMMENTS ON HERE ARE SAYING TO KEEP THE SHOW?! WAKE UP!
Please don’t cancel Chase. We really enjoy watching the show. I think NBC is making a mistake in canceling the show. this is actually the only show we watch on NBC. We watch CBS and Fox, but since they put Chase on we really enjoying watching the show.
I am sooo mad they are thinking about canceling CHASE!!!!! This is the first great show since PRISON BREAK ended!!!!!! Do no cancel CHASE!!!!!! My friends and I watch it every Wednesday and LOVE it!!!
This has been a great series to watch for entertainment. There are so many “reality” shows that I have almost given up on any hope of good, action motivated shows anymore. The first episode was gripping and original and the others have kept me coming back each week as well. Take an actual pole – not an electronic sampling of TV sets. We often DVR it so we can skip all the sickening reality TV promotions!!
Bring it back!
I too enjoyed Chase TV networks really don’t give shows a chance to shine. Find a day thats fits and let them breathe a little. Hopefully NBC brings them back!!
This is a great series. Chase is important to show real situation today and just how these issues can harm and help the society we live in today. It takes money to produce this — and NBC has made so many bad choices over the past several years — looks like they are cutting their costs to an afternoon of rehearsal time and a live-TV show and I know I would not watch. Some of the drama shows on the newer cable networks like USA, A&E, TNT, etc. are as good and even better and many folks have and are… Read more »
You are right Rodger look at Southland and excellent program that NBC gave no chance and now it is bring in great ratings on TNT, ratings that NBC could have enjoyed if they only gave the show a chance. I hope TNT does the same for Chase.
PLEASE DONT CANCEL CHASE! I really love this show and the cast is great! I hope to see more of Chase in the future!!
Cancelling CHASE? This is the very reason I have gotten away from watching regular TV. All the good shows get cancelled without giving it a chance to succeed. I really enjoyed CHASE, especially since it is filmed in Houston. Annie and co hosts are great. I enjoyed the action and looked forward to watching. THANKS alot NBC!!!!
Robert – You are right. Every time I find a show I like they either cancel it too soon and sometimes do not let it even run the full season. They take them off and put them back on after you forgot what happened in the first 7 or 9 series that may have shown you. They have had so many good shows and I do not know who belongs to the Nielsen Ratings but since I cannot get out of the house I could be a good candidate for opinions on TV shows. This year has been really hard… Read more »
