To not much surprise, NBC has decided to renew Chuck for a fourth season. Despite sagging ratings, it’s still one of the network’s best performing hour-long shows in the targeted demo.
Chuck follows a geeky electronics store employee (Zachary Levi) whose life is turned upside down when a database of top secret government information is downloaded into his brain. The series cast includes Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Scott Krinsky, Vik Sahay, and Julia Ling.
This year, the ratings started out with a 2.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 7.45 million viewers. That’s good, especially for NBC. Unfortunately, they’ve fallen quite a bit over the season. This week’s episode of Chuck hit a new low with 5.324 million viewers and an unfortunately consistent 1.9 rating in the demo.
On most other networks, Chuck would be toast. However, NBC has a lot of airtime to fill next season and needs some familiar programs to anchor the schedule. It’s likely for this reason that NBC has renewed Chuck for a fourth season of 13 episodes.
It’s unknown if it will return in the fall or if it will once again be held until midseason. We also don’t know if the peacock network is open to ordering additional episodes. One thing is safe to say though, for Chuck to be assured of a fifth season, viewership has to rise.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Chuck is coming back for season four? Any suggestions on how NBC can get more viewers?

I’m from New Zealand and over here everybody loves Chuck. It’s my first equal favourite show with How I Met Your Mother but they’re completely different. Most shows are either comedy or story line, but Chuck is comedy, drama, thriller and at times horror all in one, gotta keep chucky around. Just had the final episode of season 3 on TV a few mins ago, and that is the best final episode of any series i’ve ever seen, excluding …. none.
I forgot to say I think the writers are great. I love the love story between them . And I think its Great there getting some older famost actors and actresses on it for fun of seeing them again in things, Great move to for Chucks Mom.
Chuck is my all time favorite tv show. I make sure I have no other plans on Mon. night or don”t work late strictly because I want to watch Chuck.I love all Characters .And it was fun to see Sara Conners and Richard Chamberlin on the episodes . PLEASE DON’T CANCEL this show or I will just have another night not to stay home 🙂
It’s good fun. A little inconsistent in the quality of each show, but that can be remedied and make it a winner!
I just love “Chuck” tv series to the max. It’s really very entertaining. The characters all know how to act esp. Zachary & Yvonne.Love seeing them together!More, more seasons pls.Won’t get tired watching it over & over again!Don’t even think of cancelling this show.Fortunately, you’ve superb writers & characters.
Chuck is the only show that I like on TV these days. The story line has a nice balance of humor, drama, romance. It’s like James Bond on an average Joe’s level…I think most people could relate to the character of Chuck and the missions are realistic. Many shows in the past became too lame to watch like Alias or Dark Angel, they all started getting unbelievable but Chuck has a lot of potential to continue for a few more seasons. I know I will continue to watch it I think if they cut this show, they’ll loose even more… Read more »
chuck is a great show. And by far one of the most popular in my country, New Zealand, so there is a huge fanbase outside of USA as well. Please consider that too and continue chuck
Love the show. Hope they last for more seasons. Just watched first and second season. Funny and entertaining.
I was just introduced to Chuck via my daughter who lives in another state. She has the seasons on DVD and we loved watching them. Good clean fun – very smart and quick. I love the cast – they work so well together. I hope it will be renewed and we can start to enjoy again. There’s not too much on TV that I look forward to watching – let’s hope NBC doesn’t make the wrong decision – please keep this show on the air.
CHUCK is an engaging show, well written and acted, with excellent characters and well developed plots. Chuck’s hair in September 2010 looks odd, all plastered down, not natural. NBC needs to keep Chuck around and then put it in syndication.
I really love chuck hope that this is not the final season. I love all the cast. Please stay on air. thank you.
Skin or no skin i still love watching chuck. I can actually watch it over and over again. this is the only show i actually keep myself up to date compared to the other local show. I hope it stays a little long and hopefully they find a way to attract more viewers…..
Show more skin and cleavage. Thats why the first season was so popular. They seem to have made the females look less attractive on purpose.
I LOVE CHUCK! I want it to stay!!!
Chuck is the ONLY show I care to watch on network TV. It is fun, with sufficient humor that I laugh typically throughout each episode.
I think it is unfortunate that one of the best shows on NBC gets only 13 episodes. It is not a mystery to me why NBC is doing so poorly. The only good show on TV and they give it token viewing and wonder why the public is not tuning in. Hello, you executive dummies?
