Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has wrapped its first season on CW, and fans now have to wait for a second season to premiere this fall. Rachel Bloom, the star and co-creator of the series, has an idea in mind for the end of the series though. She knows she is nowhere near it yet.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Golden Globe winner revealed how many seasons she has in mind for the CW series. She said the following:
“I think the ideal number is around four. That could change. We’re a show about a very specific journey in a person’s life. And it’s not really a sitcom meant to spit out copies of itself. Very early on, we called it a 50-hour movie. I think we’re beyond that now. There’s always going to be plot movement, so there’s only so far I think you can go with that. It could be five, but I think around four would be ideal for us creatively.”
For now, Bloom needs to be content with a second season for this series. With low ratings throughout the season, some were shocked by the renewal of the show. However, the series has support of the critics and the awards earned for Rachel Bloom helped push it toward a second season.

My wife and watched the first episode on Acorn tonight. It was about 11:30 and we thought we would watch one more show before going to bed. I got tired of trying to find a show to watch and simply settled on this one sort of as a last resort. We absolutely loved it!! The mixed context of the show was totally unexpected. We’ll watch more episodes over the next few nights. We liked it so much that (as I often do) I looked to see how many episodes and if there would be a second season. One of the… Read more »

What’s on the McDonalds sign? “Over 4 billion served”. Quantity is not an indication of quality. Ratings are ‘inside baseball’, not an assessment of how good a show is. Apparently the CW was looking for a series to showcase that they are more than just a hack mini-network. What does NBC have to compare to the CW lineup these day? “The Apprentice” with Donald Trump and Gary Busey?
The Voice, Little Big Shots, Law an Order:SVU, Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Superstore, The Blacklist, Grimm.
I genuinely love this show more each week. Give me 4 seasons and I’ll watch them all.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend is my favorite new show! I will absolutely watch any season they get to release. The show is hilarious, smart, relatable, and fun. The cast is fantastic. Their ability to have a joke that’s funny on its own tie into previous jokes is brilliant. Everyone should give this show a chance.
How about getting your average show rating OVER a 0.50 or better before you talk about giving a show 4 seasons? Ratings DO MATTER
